@all

Thanks for the interest in the Webcast from AmiWest 2012!

This year we will have a live video feed and live audio. The webcam will be intermittent due to a switch to an AmigaOne (a work in progress while my Amiga 4000 is on the Hyperion Table).

The coverage will be of the show floor and the seminar room. A note about the seminar room coverage. The seminar room is about 100 feet from the show floor so I need to get the video from one place to the other. I have a few options to choose from so we'll see which works best.

Regarding the login on the streaming page several folks have mentioned, when the streaming source is active the server status will show as online.

I'll be updating the broadcast webpage shortly with the latest.

Cheers,
Bill "tekmage" Borsari

@tekmage

looking at seminars list when it comes ot os4 essentials, i notice there is actually only steve solie speaking about the roadmap of os4. of course you are talking games (or rather mostly game ports as i suppose), lyle about his development on xmos and midi part and there is an amicygnix seminar, but id say (no pun intended) these subjects are rather secondary imho. i see no mention of current state presentation of widely expected major features such as further hardware (netbook), gallium, smp and the like. i thought there will be some substantial information provided this time, in this respect the seminar list looks a little thin. actually the most interesting part i expect to be aros presentation by jason. im curious myself.

+1

If you look at the topics it seems they will show "roadmaps" and similar (words) but no real new products. But perhaps they have not yet shown everything, who knows...

@tekmage

Tried to fill on the mailing list form but it keeps saying you need a valid US postal code. That's great if you're in the US but what about the rest of the world ?

/WILD SPECULATION ON

http://www.a-eon.com/images/seminar.jpg

In this picture the empy seat probably belong to Steven, and it's seems there is a nettbook on the table. Morever, the windows on the netbook have the classic OS4 default theme colors.

@AmigaBlitter

when i look at it close its display it shows nothing that would indicated os4. it might be windows. its ugly default theme is usually also blue. furthermore no boing bar usually placed on the bottom, instead something that looks like a task bar.

.. and that empty seat.. yes one thinks first of ssolie, but there is an open foto of the location on the screen of the netbook, i guess it might rather belong to the invisible photographer.

now, good detective work, or what??

The shape is certainly consistent with the Acer Aspire One.

What about a european version of Amiwest?, say in London or Germany, perhaps Hamburg or Berlin would be perfect. Whadda people think?

Letmesee....

/me sitting in the conference room of an hotel
/me only 122km from Danish border
/me surrounded by about 30 amigans of all colours (well haven't seen anything AROS yet)

I'd say that IS "Amiwest-Europe", just without all those pompous PR-stunts.

@AmigaKit

[AmigaWest tutorial]

that's a great news, since I was just talking with you, yesterday, about this and the possibility to download the video or create some kind of DVD's (even paying for that )

Thanks for this big surprise

Have any broadcasts begun yet? I just tried using tunenet to listen to http://amigaworld.net:8000/listen.m3u and all I get is "opening media", "error opening media" then "playback finished".

Oh....duh, just noticed the Amiwest banner on Amigaworld now says broadcasts begin 7PM PST.

Hopefully the video stream will be stable this year. Apologies for last years issues during the banquet.

Unfortunatly the server we use, and the software we use to broadcast only gets used once a year for the AmiWest broadcast, so it's very difficult to stress test the setup and last years data-rate was very high.

I hope we can get even higher numbers of people tuning in this year!
