@klx300r

Looking like an SDL game, I hope it fast work...
Anyway - I'm also during coding game - maybe in may I can show some screens or video and release time is June (it very big and hard to write, so it take some time to release...)

Hi all,

klx300r has always been so supportive of my projects that I onboarded him as a betatester for this game - and, once again, I have to thank him for his support!

If you want to know more about the game, have a look at:
* the website;
* the Facebook page;
* the devlog;
* the review by RGCD (they tested what was back then a release candidate, but then, while preparing the package, the website and other stuff, new ideas came so now the game is even richer).

Please note that there's no release date yet. And, as in the best Amiga tradition, there will be one only when it's done.

@eliyahu

Nice, thanks :)
This is radically different from BOH, but the same obsessive care has gone into it... I hope to satisfy your eagerness soon and completely.

Hi all, I'm back... this time I have some more juicy stuff to show - here's a little trailer:

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=358957510891810

(accessible to everybody, also to who doesn't use Facebook)

I'm also very happy to announce that the game will be published by RGCD (www.rgcd.co.uk), a truly passionate retro game publisher (that probably some of you already know)!

@saimo

While watching the video I had non-stop flashbacks to my childhood memories... Looks like someday you have written down every game mechanism, visual and sound effect you could remember from the 80's videogame scene and mixed all of this into a single game. Brilliant, can't wait to see the released version!

@Varthall

Such a comment is a huge compliment, thank you so much!

Yes, I've put together lots of elements, more or less intentionally. The known references are listed on the website (www.retream.com/Huenison), but I'm sure that the day I sit and analyze each and every bit, I'll find more.

Edit: forgot to add that that is actually the final version - it's just undergoing the final testing and waiting for the busy people at RGCD to find the necessary time for the release

@saimo

I would think it was actually more fun not to analyze it, just sit back and watch your end users do it. "hey, this reminds me of ...." then you can have a go at the original for 5 minutes and conclude whether you subconsciously got inspiration from that. Sort of an adventure to discover your own subconsciousness

Oh, yes, you're completely right: that has already happened with those who tried the game

Thanks for your usual great support!

@all

Please note that publicity for Huenison is also publicity for AOS - help Huenison be noticed and you'll automatically help AOS as well

@saimo

Tried the demo on my A1, a great game!

Pity that my system can't handle the default 1280x1024 resolution, had to switch to 640x480, 2x square to have a smooth gameplay.

BTW I have noticed that, when setting the 1x solid mode, a screenmode not supported by my monitor was listed (320x240), the only way to exit from there was by pressing ESC many times until the game itself exited. I have discovered that the screenmodes are taken from the monitor's tooltypes in Devs:Monitors. I have removed that screenmode, deleted the file "configuration.txt" and rebooted, that sorted the problem.

Again, thanks for this game!

The biggest problem is bandwidth: rendering and refreshing such a big screen does take a while. But it's still possible to use a less demanding dots mode or, even better, to use a smaller resolution and an appropriate dots mode. It's a matter of fiddling with the settings and finding a satisfying one.
F.ex., I have an A1 as well and, while at 1920x1080 and 5x it's a tad slow, at the same resolution, but with a 3x dots mode, it's already smooth; of course, to cover most of the physical screen area, I have to choose a smaller resolution.
BTW: for a better choice, keep in mind that the stars at the sides of the video modes rate the aspect ratio (2 = perfect; 1 = good; 0 = distorted).

I have removed that screenmode, deleted the file "configuration.txt" and rebooted, that sorted the problem.

The game lists all the modes that the system reports as available and that are compatible with the current dots mode (when you switched to 1x, the smallest mode appeared as it was sufficient for the required area).
In general, make sure that the modes in your tooltypes actually reflect what your monitor can support (not just for Huenison). Also, you could try DDC (if your monitor supports the protocol).
BTW: an easier way to reset the configuration if something goes wrong is pressing [F12] in the menu.

Quote:
Again, thanks for this game!

Glad to have made you happy, and thanks for the feedback!

From what I was able to play (my Cat decided it would be a good idea to sit infront of the screen and watch the little blocks fall.......) I thought it was a very good game.

Thanks, I take it as a double compliment given that your cat appreciated the game as well
