@ All,

I've just done some spring cleaning before the ARs start flying.

Stop the fame bait even if you're just trying to be funny. Plus stop taking the bait too, just report it.

For the record, I have a PET that lasted longer than a classic Amiga and had a PC dead out of the box.

The subject of this thread is "Epsilon's Amiga X1000 Blog". Carry on...

Congratulations on your new SAM! Looks great. :) Hope your X1000 will be back in business soon. Many "juicy" photos there of the new hardware by the way. Nice!

Great catch Epsilon, have fun with your new Sam460!

Do you plan to install on it also Linux/Ubuntu toghether with Mos 3.8?
It would be great to read your amazing blog concerning these operating systems
And helpful for other 460ex users

Naturally we are also curios to know your impressions about little 460ex compared to your powerfull X1000

Hi All,

Today I have updated my blog with a sneak peak at the upcoming game Wings Battlefield by Cherry Darling, on both AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition (Sam 460) and MorphOS 3.7 (Powerbook G4).

Link is here:

I hope you enjoy it!

The price of SAM is ok, that's why comparison to X1000 could be interesting. I'm using Pegasos and I don't know if it worth to move in direction SAM or not. Benchmarks is not enough, the best is to have view point from real life.

Hi All,

I have added a new blog entry this weekend, taking a first glance at the newly released MorphOS 3.8 on my Powerbook G4 and SAM460CR.

Link is here:

http://amigax1000.blogspot.com.au/2015/05/morphos-38-on-sam-460cr-and-powerbook-g4.html

I am still very much working on the SAM460CR build with more to come no doubt - I hope you enjoy it.

Great blog, as usual
I expect you'll build a double boot system Mos/OS4.1 in your Sam460

Some goodies relating to your blog:

A bit more detailed overview of benchmark (first pass, needs kicking about a bit, may contain errors or just be plain wrong in places):

http://library.morph.zone/Applications/Benchmark

(EDIT: Changed link to MorphOS library)

And a multiboot menu for your Powerbook (includes a simple and _safe_ update-from-ISO method to save you burning CDs ): http://www.2shared.com/fadmin/64358564/7bb576e5/bootmonster.lha.html

When you wrote this:

"I decided to swap my AmigaOS4.1 Final Edition hard disk for a new one to avoid potential issues between the two, as they are not really intended to run in dual boot configuration on the same hard disk from what I have been told"

what do you mean?
Is not possible to install OS4.1 and MorphOS in dualboot on the same HD?

@kyle

It's currently not possible to dual boot unless you use two different hard disks. This is partially due to the way the firmware on the Sam460 is designed.

@bennymee

Really? Hope this will be solved soon, there's room for only 1 HD in the case of my 460ex.
So it's a problem to be studied by ACube?

Very nice entry, as always...thanks Epsilon.

I was away for some time...did you manage to get your X1000 fixed yet?
Glad that you found the courage to tinker with yet another firmware update

@Epsilon

Thank you Epsilon
A hint for an easy multiboot received from ACube is to install Morphos on SD (limit of 2gb removed) and select the device from which loading the OS (Mos from SD and Os4.1 from HD) from Uboot option

Interesting idea with the sd card running Morphos - might try it out. How do you select the SD card as the boot device in u-Boot though?
