@Epsilon

Thanks for brief review of latest OS components update. Since Update6, it is hard to get informations about updates - eg. for news or Wikipedia article purposes. Hopefuly Hyperion will release more complete history of updates. Or I can simply buy OS4 hardware.

Hi All,

Happy New Year 2014 (I know it's the end of January now!). I have returned from my trip to Japan and fired up the X1000 to take a look at the recently released game Ace of Hearts.

I have written a blog entry for the game below. If you are interested please take a look:

http://amigax1000.blogspot.com.au/2014/01/ace-of-hearts-on-x1000.html

I hope you enjoy it!

@klx300r

thanks for your kind words as always - I am glad you enjoy it! I had another go at Ace of Hearts this weekend too - it is certainly addictive.

@all

I have updated my blog with a new entry looking at the latest updated DOpus 5.9 BETA version on X1000. It includes some detail on configuration changes I did to get DOpus 5.9 working more integrated with AmigaOS4. The link is here:

http://amigax1000.blogspot.com.au/2014/02/dopus-59-updated-on-x1000.html

I hope this is interesting for you!

It is 45C here today in Adelaide, 43 yesterday - so hot! It was over 30C at 7AM this morning! Definitely was a day to spend inside in front of the Air Conditioner playing around with my X1000!

Nice read! Opus5 was always too feature rich for my taste, but it looks really good on your screenshots.

I've commented a bit here. Tried to add a comment to the blog directly, but it didn't work.

@Overflow

Thanks - I am glad you liked one of my old songs.

Have to admit some of the Impulse Tracker songs I wrote back then (2000-ish) make me cringe now, which is why I never released the album!

Some of the songs had some good parts I was proud of though, and I thought some people might enjoy it anyway so I decided to put them up on Soundcloud!

Maybe I'll revisit tracker music creation again - it has been a while (over ten years) and I miss it a bit....

Your blog is one of the best things in the AmigaNG world. Please keep it up. Thanks for the tutorials.

I have a question what took so long for Opus5 to work on OS4? Its worked on Morphos since 1.4....

To explain it from a layman's point of view, Dopus 5 used some reserved parameter areas of AmigaOS function calls to pass internal information. Since AmigaOS "classic" did not use these, there was no problem. MorphOs also, as it turns out, did not use these reserved parameter areas for anything and so Dopus5 worked on MorphOS.
AmigaOS4 however, expanding on the classic design and based on the classic source code, utilized a parameter for AmigaOS4 which Dopus5 was "illegally" using to pass information, so the data got trashed and this caused listers to not work on OS4.
Once the dopus5 source code was released, and it was possible to see what Dopus5 was doing, it was quickly recognized (I think within a day or two) and fixed so that the dopsu5 "patched" version worked on OS4.
The rest of the time has been spent re-compiling and in some cases rewriting the original Dopus5 sources to AmigaOS4 PPC (and other variations as well). Thanks so much to Kas1e and others who have done so much work in this!
Now Dopus5 has a native OS4 version compiled as PPC code.

I'm sure there may be a more accurate way to describe this, but like I said, this is just layman's terms...

Scott

Hi All,

I have updated my blog with a new entry looking at the recently released Ubuntu Remix DVD. This will be a two part blog entry. This first part looks at the live DVD functionality on the X1000.

http://amigax1000.blogspot.com.au/2014/02/a-eon-ubuntu-remix-on-x1000-part-1.html

The second part (when completed) will look at the installation of Ubuntu Remix on the X1000.

I hope you enjoy it and please forgive my poor linux skills and knowledge. I try my best!

Very nice blog as usual!

With danger of sounding like a fanboy, your blog is one of the best things that has happened
to the X1000 community.

Extremely clean, organized, coherent, detailed AND professional presentation and delivery of whatever
you are testing/reviewing.

Im impressed!

Never stop
