@pavlor

it is at the moment lost between all these platforms. Most people outside have long forgotten the platform (if they ever knew it). There must be some sort of restart with running on modern and competitive hardware to change that.

I think you're back to the disconnect between a business view and a hobbyists/users view. He enjoys what he uses regardless of branding.

But considering the tens of millions involved -still- with Commodore and Amiga and related lawsuits still pending AND the hundreds of millions in value of companies involved IN those suits...
yes...business people see the branding differently.

Why not just treat this as the hobby it is?

@blizz1220

People are obviously curious and the number of posts in this thread illustrates that.
This is new information...public information, that has not been posted before, afaik.

If you compare posting public information to others' posts issuing negative opinions on this whole thing, fine. That's your right. Others will see if differently.

Dunno. Are you using a different browser to post today?

The AW CMS can do some very strange things depending on what you draft the post in too, cut/paste from other places, carriage returns(enter), etc.

Yeah it is, but alas everyone is open to their opinion. Sorry you dont like it.

Quote:
The "OS4 Open Linux Project", on the other hand, is just a blog hosted by Google's free blogging service. It doesn't contain much information at all, and if I click on "contribute", it basically says "send an e-mail, please". And while the site refers to a "team" or "us" most of the time, at some places you can also find references to "me" ("e-mail me"). That's quite telling.

Thats because we did the openly contribute thing and it made a mess out of everything. Yes we still have contributors, outside of the development team of 5, we have 22 outside contributors. Thats actually more than Hyperion have on staff. And yes, unlike most others i pay my contributors depending on what they do. Some of them, the design team primarily do it to get credit for their college courses and they do it for experience. Oh, and they do get paid with the donations we make.

Quote:
To sum it up: The "OS4 Open Linux Project" doesn't seem to exist right now. It's just a headline on a meaningless blog.

Its existed since 2006. 2008 we went public, um so I guess the Linux Mint team is bogus and on a meaningless blog, as their homepage is on Blogger as well. Im trying really to understand the root of your argument here, the whole thing sounds like a vent to me.

Quote:
You want to rape the Amiga trademark some more? Fine, be my guest. The thing has been treated so badly for the last 1.5 decades it barely resembles what I used to love so much. Another offender honestly doesn't make much of a difference to me.

Who says Im raping the Amiga trademark? So thats why you are so angry, you think Im trying to rape the Amiga? Nothing could be farther from the truth and how about you read the entire thread before you rant. You would see what the whole thing was about. "Amiga OpenLinux" was an attempt to get a reaction out of Amiga Inc. and Hyperion and since I cant get anything of substance outside of PR spin. You would see what came of it. I for one see the dedication to a brand and Im not here to dishonor that brand or to do anything to hurt anyone. Myself and A-EON are actually starting the port to the PowerPC processor, not only does it help me by being on more platforms it helps A-EON. One of the reasons we quit doing PowerStation was because I didnt have a reliable PowerPC supplier so I was only good if people were using recycled Macs and even that was dwindling fast. That helps me if I get more PowerPC customers, it helps A-EON because it will get them more sales. I have my own brand, OS4 OpenLinux, its a very strong brand and Im happy with it. Right now, Im working on 13.5 and 14 of those releases. I feel very fortunate because I have a dedicated team of DEVELOPERS and CONTRIBUTORS whom I love very much and who are just as passionate about OS4 as you are about the Amiga. And yes this has been the topic of discussion for the last few days but they understand why I outreached to the Amiga community and they are excited I was able to enlist A-EON and they are excited about the PowerPC port.

This discussion was meant to be productive. To be positive. You can either be productive and positive. You can be part of a solution or part of the problem, if you insist on bringing negativity and being part of the problem then Mr. cgutjahr feel free to exit stage left. Dont insult me and please dont insult my people. When you attack our product, when you attack our presentation you insult them, thus I get offended. Are there some things that we can do better? Of course, no one is perfect. Is our presentation perfect? No, its not and its something we wrestle with everyday and we constantly make changes. Such as the OS4 Marketplace, our documentation, which have improved BTW etc. But when you insult my teams hardwork and dedication, oh yeah, I get offended. I do get you dont care about them and you could care less at all. Im just saying. I have not insulted anyone here, nor have I disrespected any of the other hundreds in the Amiga community who have contacted me personally, Im just asking for the same courtesy.

Thank you and good day to you sir.

You were warned about some of us.

Thankfully, they are only minority (even though vocal) among Amiga users.

For purpose of introduction, in case Roberto doesn't know...
Let's at least mention he drafts news for AmigaNews.de and is a maintainer of Aminet, amongst other things.
