About the "removed Parthenope", it's probably the partitioning that installed MBR on my HD because I checked what it was there with MediaToolbox and it said "no boot loader installed".
But more important, I see that the embedded SATA controller is not supported. Maybe this is something that need to be added in the kernel. Can you check in the kernel branch if Applied Micro 460ex SATA is supported? I found this that could be interesting.
Thanks.
Ah yes, another less important one When doing "halt", the 460 doesn't stop itself but it can. See the poff command. Sources are included. Last edited by elwood on 06-Jan-2014 at 09:59 PM.

I have never encountered the Pathenope removal and I have done quite a few installs on two different model machines. I use the option use largest contiguous free space . so It Is possible that one of the other options causes this. If so its is a Linux PPC installer thing.
I removed the onboard SATA support because the kernel would not boot when I had the PCIex1 slot enable but no card installed. Scared the hell out of me when I first encountered this ...
I am not a coder so I have to leave anything outside of the standard kernel compiles and the Installers to someone else .Maybe javierdlr/jabirulo as he has done some work with the code under AmigaOS 4.1 .
Maybe Acube could reach out to the Linux PPC maintainers again as we have caught up a bit with the main stream . Also do you know any one with a Sam440ep-itx mode who could test the latest Ubuntu 14.04 and some one with a Flex model and Radeon 9250. My 9250 is busted and I have not heard any feed back on the colour problems reported previously .

Thanks again for hosting.
In windowed mode Linux Mplayer on Sam460ex is quite capable. Not as good as DVplay in AmigaOS 4.1 full screen. This show the great work on Amiga OS4.1 by Hans,Cobra and OS4.1 team .

| Hi All,
I have some bad news for you.
Spectre660 has ended his support for the Sams.
Quote Spectre660:
Quote:
@Xeno74 Thank you for your support but it is time for me to move on. The thread on Amigans.net (http://www.amigans.net/modules/xforum/viewtopic.php?topic_id=6332&forum=10) showed me the light. |
He has deleted all Linux downloads, posts, and screenshots in the Hyperion forum.
@Spectre660: You have done a lot of very good work for us. Sorry about this. I'm so sorry.

I think it's an overreaction of Spectre660. Amigans.net is (and was) always primarily about AmigaOS 4 and nothing else. So, if a user at Amigans.net moans about "Linux News" on the "AmigaOS support forum" it shouldn't be a surprise at all.
That's what the "Amiga PPC Linux" forum at amigaworld is for.

| This is a sad news really .. Why stop support just for a complaints of someone ? ..
I hope it is not a final decision :-/

I just removed what people were not happy with and For fun I am going to respond by just using my choice of quotations from that thread . ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Quote:
I do not like moaning or ranting, but sometimes I do get a little irked. It gets on my nerves too. So much so, I don't bother with it any more. I even feel annoyed by those linux threads lately on amigans there. Seriously, if any of us want linux, we for sure will be not here, there is much more professional forums about all sort of unixes. For me, after a year away I logged in there, clicked on unread posts and was shocked at the imbalance between Linux and Amiga. My beef, is the fact that the Hyperion AmigaOS support forum seems to be littered with Linux news. Now I feel the clue is in the name, "Hyperion" and AmigaOS". Neither of which have anything to do with Linux, so why is it even there?. If these stalwarts want to promote Linux for whatever machine, why not do it on a Linux forum?, the HYPERION AMIGAOS support forum is surely not the place for it... So when I see in Amiga oriented-forums about linux, is really something that I don't like to say the truth, especially when I see them on Hyperion's forums. It gives me the impression that Hyperion is looking elsewhere beyond AmigaOS. |

If everyone quit writing their program when one person had a gripe, nothing would ever get done at all....
What gets me is he wasn't even complaining about Linux - just the fact that the forum had no way of filtering the Linux posts out. Seems very strange to cut all support and development of a project just because of that. |

I think your reply is meant for Spectre660 not me.

You removed what some people (who don't need it anyway) were not happy with. And now people who may need it can't get it anymore.
It's your work and you can do whatever you want with it, I just think it was an overreaction.

(1) I removed my post's due to the sentiments expressed in the Amigans.net thread . (2) Xeno74 has all my released work hosted. I have not asked him to remove it. (3) All I said was thanks to Xeno74 for his support and that I was moving on. (4) My Sam460ex was destroyed so I cant do much more on the Sam460ex front. (5) There was not a lot of interest in my Sam440ep work over the last 7 months.
I have brought Linux support on both machines up to Kernel 3.13 as well as Lubuntu 14.04LTS support. So support is like 5 years ahead starting from April 2014 .
My only remaining interest in Powerpc machines as of yesterday is to see how well Gallium3D runs on my Sam440ep-flex if it is still in use by the time Gallium3D is released.

| Power supply failure fried it and my graphics card. Everyone is losing computer equipment after a second period of island wide power failures. The first series probably weakened the components and the second series finished them off. Talking about 3 or 4 power cuts a day for 1 to 2 weeks .Sorry it was my Sam460ex and not a X86 machines that blew, But for some reason prefer the Sam460ex to have been the victim rather than my Sam440ep-flex .

I can fully understand your not working on it any more, given your 460 is not working. But why delete all the threads and screenshots and links? That's what I don't understand. I mean - ok, so someone doesn't like having Linux threads in an Amiga forum - does that mean that everyone else who needs that information should suffer?
Remember for each person unhappy and saying so, there will be many more happy people who don't say a word.

Your work on linux has opened a new world of possibilities for sam460. I was expecting 2d hardware acceleration for radeonhd on linux.
I do not want to pressure anybody but i stili think Acube should support you in someway.
If that is the final decision,i just want to thank you.
