Successfully modified the Sam460ex uRamdisksqueeze ramdisk to install Wheezey on Sam440ep .
Did a test install of a base system to an ESATA Drive
Must try it on my Sam460ex to install Wheezy some time.
Now need to see if I can set up preeseed to automate the copying of the kernel and modules to the fresh installation .

root@debian:~# cat /etc/debian_version
7.1

Great work!
If you can sort out a installable and working version for 460 it would be a great result

@All

Thanks for the kind words.

Main issue is the like the Sam460ex version I cant get the console to work with the Installer.
So installation needs a Null modem cable and a Second PC.This can do a complete install of Wheezy plus every thing needed to boot from harddrive.

The installer will copy the kernel and modules and set up the menu.lst so the only thing you have to do is to install Parthenope as the boot loader on your hard drive.
Problem with the serial install is that the text on the Serial terminal on the PC side can get garbled from time to time.

I tend to setup my booting from a SFS0 partition where I put the kernels and a menu.lst file so that I can select a different kernel for booting if I want. This can coexist with the
boot setup on the linux partition by the installer.

The installer works. Ended up with a Jessie installation.
Iceweasel 17.09 is fast !!!. This alone is worth the install.
I used a "Small CD" for for the install so the ISO is about 270MB.
After I had done it I found the ramdisk for the Tiny CD" installer "hidden" on the Debian website.
Will make an installer based on this but will have to test it so for now I am getting the Small CD version ready for Xeno74 to host.
Just need to make sure that it works with a Radeon 9250.
Every thing is good with the Radeon HD4850 , The text installer and the console so no serial cable and second computer needed.
Although they are useful debugging .

@Spectre660

Seems to be a problem with the Radeon 9250 and framebuffer device.
Gnome wont start with this card. Will have to adjust my configuration.

Not yet.
I need to get framebuffer support right for the 9250 and 4xxx series before
I attempt to add the support for 5xxx and 6xxx cards.

@kyle

trying a base install with the Radeon HD 6670.
It was as simple as the fact that the Radeon HD firmware is not present in the Installer.
After all who needs Radeon HD 5000 and up on a powepc Mac ?
Just had to add the firmware to the Ramdisk .
It means that my kernel configuration should be ok. Jut a matter of having the
Radeon firmware in the right place.
