@cinemaware

I backed Wings via your paypal funding, even though Wings wasn't exactly my favorite Cinemaware game. I also purchased Rocket Ranger for the Kindle Fire (don't forget to release Wings for Fire too).

Don't let the negative comments here bother you. The saner people in the Amiga community may not be as vocal as some here. I assure you, there are Amiga people who realize that releasing the code + assets is really all you could do. I am extremely doubtful that any Amiga coders will make a port, but nobody would really expect you to make an AmigaOS port yourselves. The best I might expect, and it's a longshot, is for a Linux port to be made by a developer, and someone, somehow, getting that Linux port to run on AmigaOne hardware running Linux.

For future kickstarters, I suggest perhaps as a reward, offer the original Amiga version for Aros/Amiga OS (68K)/MorphOS as an adf, so Amiga people who don't own the game can play the original on whatever Amiga-flavored OS they may be using (in emulation or native). Then throw in some wallpapers, or extras ... CD-ROM labels, boxshots, etc from original Amiga versions. That's about as much as any reasonable Amiga person could expect.

Amen to that, mate. I agree 101%.

@cinemaware
I'm a backer. Congratz for the result and for making it possible.
I would personally love an "It came from the desert" HD remake.And I'm ready to double my pledge on it.

@g0blin

It came from the desert was my favorite Cinemaware game, and I too would make a larger pledge for that one ... a nice giant ant as a reward would be nice too.

Three Stooges and King of Chicago were also favorites of mine, but to a lesser extent.

What eventually would be nice is if Cinemaware started tacking original projects too. I may be remembering wrong, but there were several cancelled projects towards the end of their original run -- I believe they were working on a Western game that never got to the release stage. There are other genres Cinemaware could make games for, ideally hiring 1-2 of the original developers to work on. I expect a lot of people would pledge for games like that. But that would be for down the road, if ever.

Quote:
Sorry, but it is not a joke/hoax/fake or any other evil intention behind this! The 95k is for the MacPort. Thats it. After our first campaign we where ask why we don't make an Amiga-Port. As there is no option for Unity there, we could not do this. We said "no". Then there where questions if we would release the code for a team, if they want to port it. Okay, we put this in the 95k level.

No offense meant by this. It's just from the sounds of it a Amiga port is a very long way off even if the stretch goal is met. Sad but you did make it clear enough that the stretch goal was primarily about the Mac port. At first glance though a lot of us got more excited about a possible AmigaOS port than was logical or indeed feasible at this point. Your stance should be expected given the size of such a small community of Amiga OS users with no support for the 3D engine this game will be built on. Sorry for the emotive wording. The source code release to an AmigaOS team would obviously be viewed as a gift to the community just as you intended it to be should the stretch goal be met. Congrats on a successful Kickstarter!

@retro

Unity uses C# for scripts, we will need mono ported from Linux.

@retro

i have shortly googled unity + open source

There is not the slightest hint that it may be opensourced. I only found "Godot Engine" that is opensource and seems to be similar but I do not know (and do not believe) that it is compatible.

So I think it is a rumor.

And regarding Wings, everybody knew that it would use unity3d and thus is not portable so everybody who donated knew what to expect (and what not).

I did it too! I'm glad I backed this up and I hope to see new Cinemaware stuff soon.
I'd like to play again to "It came from the desert".

It came from the desert would be fun, but personally I want to see Rocketeer first ^^

So, what boost do you get from the ability levels?

Got 45 kills now (35 missions), and got for example Sky Falcon I

Anyone got any info about how that actually affects you?
