| Hi All,
I decided to start a separate blog to my X1000 blog, this one is to focus on Classic Amiga hardware (and software).
Just to be clear I am not stopping work on the X1000 blog! I just didn't think I should include detailed Classic Amiga related stuff in that blog.
To start with I am starting work on a new project to upgrade an Amiga 600. I just received the Amiga 600 today and I have covered the initial purchase and initial setup in some detail. I did a similar upgrade on an Amiga 600 back in later 2011 but the computer died. I kept all the upgrades ready to try again in the future, which starts from today!
I hope you will follow along as I work on upgrading the Amiga 600 step by step with plenty of interesting hardware!
Todays blog entry is located here:

The general blog website if you would like to review the other posts is:

It will be very intresting to follow this blog
Got a A1200 myself with "only" a Blizzard 030/50 w/2+16 megs of ram and 1438s monitor. Been halfway pondering if I should upgrade it a bit, so will see if your blog can get me inspired. |

Thanks - I hope you enjoy it! After a few years gap not doing much Classic Amiga stuff at all (focussed on X1000), it is kind of nice to work on a Classic Amiga project again!
@all
I have created another blog entry for todays task of cleaning the Amiga 600 inside and out, replacing the keyboard with a new one, and testing again. Plenty of photos!
Link is here: http://classicamiga.blogspot.com.au/2014/04/cleaning-amiga-600.html
I hope you enjoy it! I am keen to get into the serious upgrade work now it is all cleaned out

Actually, amongst other things I already bought a A604, Indivision ECS, Subway USB and ACA630 from you previously for this project! I intend to cover the various bits as I go along in my blog
It is good for people to know where they can get the bits from, if they want to try this kind of upgrade themselves!

Huh, Kickstart 1.3 in Amiga 600? I didnt realize it is possible but why not, it is more compatible with games and utilities. _________________ Amiga Developer Amiga 500, Efika, Mac Mini and PowerBook |

if someone wants to play A500 games on A600 ... Is there a way to get the numeric keys? For example railroad tycoon expects every computer to have numeric keypad on the right of the keyboard.
Other than that. My A600 is going to be a AO2.1/3.1 demosystem. And I'll get ethernet A604 and ACA620 for it one day.
(looking forward to build my A2000 to be the AOS1.3 demosystem, my golden era of Amiga hobbying, from the years I was considered to be the "guru of Amiga". (I was the only one who read the manual)) _________________ - KimmoK // For freedom, for honor, for AMIGA // // Thing that I should find more time for: CC64 - 64bit Community Computer? |

Railroad Tycoon is semi-multitasking so it should be possible write an input handler to emulate numpad. _________________ Amiga Developer Amiga 500, Efika, Mac Mini and PowerBook |

It is possible to use the 1.3 ROM in an A600, but it won't recognise the onboard IDE connector, and most likely any of the expansion cards, PCMCIA slot, etc.
But as you mention it is good for A500 game/demo compatibility.

Nice blog, my first Amiga was an A600 in 1992. Don't have one now, sold the original around 2000 I think and then got another 4-5 years back. Managed to to get 'new' case, decent keyboard etc., had a nice set up but then sold on, wish I had hung on to it! There are some nice add-ons and upgrades out now. _________________ gtmooya's blog |

OS3.9 runs quite well on the Amiga 600 - I am very happy with it so far. I really like not having to spend a lot of time installing all the various patches needed to a Workbench 3.1 installation to bring it up to the same spec as an OS3.9 base install.
@all
I have created another blog entry today covering the installation of the Subway USB into the Amiga 600.
The link is here:

Please enjoy!

| Hi All,
It has been a very productive few days with the Amiga 600 upgrade, with a number of upgrades now done.
I have created a new blog entry for the setup of the MAS Player Evolution on the Amiga 600 for playing back MP3 files at full quality using MAS Hardware.
Link is here:
http://classicamiga.blogspot.com.au/2014/05/installing-mas-player-evolution-on-a600.html
I hope this is interesting for you! I am really enjoying the transformation of the Amiga 600!
