@tlosm

Do you mean a x86 guest on my A1-X1000? I think, it's too slow.

It is cca 1/40 of native speed on Core i5 of my brother (QEMU x86 quest on x86 host, no accelleration/virtualisation). I think it could be similar also in PowerPC-x86 scenario.

What is baseline? Pentium 90 MHz or AMD K6 233 MHz?

AMD K6 233 MHz for sure, the nbench write the AMD K6 233 MHz comparison at the end of it benching , and result write by Christian is that.

I'd like to see what the status of the SGI Indy driver for MESS is. Now that'd be some fun right there!

I don´t think QEMU is able to emulate alien architecture (x86 to PowerPC in this case) with 1:8 ratio. That would be too good to be true. I bet result of i386 has P90 as baseline.

What about some other benchmark (eg. DHRY2OD from this package - note it is for DOS, but there are also Dhrystone versions for Linux)?

This is the Qemu on MacOsX 10.5.8 result and run only on one of the quadri core. the Lubuntu ppc64 version is more faster

Vpc 7.02 is 10 time more faster compared qemu and isnt really optimized compared

I don´t think PA6T 1.8 GHz in X1000 is nearly as fast as 970MP 2.5 GHz in your Mac. What reult gives "native" bytemark?

With 1:8 ratio, Core i5 based computer of my brother would be able to emulate X1000 CPU performance.

good for x1000 :)
Note i wrote before Xeno is using Qemu on linux and is much better compared Qemu on macos x 10.5.8 there run on 64 bit.
Soon i will reinstall lubuntu on my quad and will make new bench and shots
for now this are the performance of the buggy VirtualPc 7.02 on G5 (it use only on of the quadri core) it is not optimized for g5 but can made understand the performance of this cpu
