Yes but not adding COPYLINKS means the links are ignored.

i see - you're right.
one more good reason to use the "backup" tool i mentioned

@MichaelMerkel

As Amiga works great and fast now, I am more than satisfied! :)

I have few questions about AmigaOS:

- How to view PNG graphics as icon? Should I install PNG datatype [WarpPNG] from OS4depot.net? It is PPC... I remember that everything was displaying correctly on Sam.

- I can't play videos using mPlayer. I can only play one: a .VOB file[s] using DVPlayer demo. How to play mp4, avi, mov, qt, wmv, divx...? I've tried all players but noone can play anything except .VOB file...

- I've just tried to play BoingBall demo from Aeon - I got no image [actually blank screen flickers a lot - no display at all] and I got this in output:

Opened RadeonHD_RM.resource version 1
Opening screen: P96-0:Radeon HD 6:832x624
Screen opened: 832x624 (24 bit)
Creating a RadeonHD_RM.resource context
Graphics chipset: Unknown
Allocating the screen's back-buffer
Creating the Nano3D context.
Creating demo.
Running demo.
Demo finished. I hope that you enjoyed it.

- What is the best image viewer? I've installed FastView but it flicks a lot [when change to next image - redraws everything on the screen and below windows] and has large border.

I remember that I was using on SAM great image viewer that had no borders on displayed images + I was able to change image in directory quickly by using mouse wheel. Any working program for x1000?

"I've installed FastView but it flicks a lot [when change to next image - redraws everything on the screen and below windows] and has large border."

If you try "Slideshow" with "Maximised background" does it flick ?

I think that standard picture display with FastView flicks because I have to resize the window for each picture.

I don't resize with Slideshow + "Max. background" and therefore no flickering.
I will add an option to show picture with max backgound enabled.

edit : forgotten that this option is still present in "Options" tab. Just missed in SinglePicture mode.

But, I will not modify "large border"

@zzd10h

Yes with slideshow and max bkg does not flick. But my wish is to implement the same as now but with possiblity to show image without any AmigaOS window border - to see only image on WB screen. It works on SAM but as SAM is not here right now I cant check which program I use there and works blazingly fast. Scrolling through images works very fast with mouse wheel.

No there allready a PNG datatype. What you need is the png icon module.

http://os4depot.net/index.php?function=showfile&file=library/misc/png_im.lha

or you can convert them.

http://os4depot.net/index.php?function=showfile&file=graphics/convert/pngicon2amiga.lha

You need something like:

mplayer dvd://1 -dvd-device sii3114ide.device:3

where the last expression is the device and unit of your DVD player.

I always end up using multiview ot imagefx for things that needs csaling because I'm too lazy to setup a proper one, but many use WarpView.

Why not use that one on X1000 then?

@djnick

can't it be that you haven't installed a-eon's ati drivers properly or something, since you can't run boing demo?

@broadblues

Hey thank you! Yes it might be that it was WarpView :) :) :) Thank you for the Png Icon Module link I will download it a bit later :)

Yes I guess AmiBoing demo does not work at all because I didn`t download latest drivers. Also I don`t have access to download chip & gfx driver file [only AmiBoing demo .lha file] so I've contacted SSolie to check out for the login / pass. My login/pass don`t allow me to download X1000 drivers, just Sam drivers.

That's not the boing-ball demo, but RHDRMTest_R700 (more about that here). It only works with Radeon HD 2000-4000 cards. That demo doesn't check the graphics card type properly, which is why it doesn't warn you. I hope that A-EON have updated the screenshot on their site, because this isn't the first time that someone has been confused.

You can download the actual boing-ball demo (Composite3DDemo), here.

I'm going to recommend you to not use the Png Icon Module. After you have installed that module, every time you snapshot a icon into place it save the icon back to disk as PNG icon, so next time you re-install OS4, all the icons are PNG and there for OS4 do not understand the format, also it creates a problem if you want distribute icons with some thing you upload to OS4Depot.net, as people download your wallpapers or what ever will not see the icons in the package.

There is tool on OS4Depot.net that can convert PNG icons to AmigaOS icons, this is what I use instead, it work pretty well I have set it up in Dopus4 as a button, the only problem is that it does not understand the difference between a icon that should be project or icon that should directory icon, so you need to manually change that, after its converted.

Do not expect good speed, mplayer reads one block not two or fore blocks when it reads from disk, so not efficient at all.

I don't know about sii3114ide.device, but sb600sata.device (X1000 sata device) does not prefetch blocks, to prevent slow read speed. I have only recently added a pre-fetch buffer in LiveForIt-Mplayer, I have not distributed it yet.

You can read more about what I did to make it work here:

@broadblues

Thank you very much! After installing PNG icon datatype - even my PNG arrow graphics from my first theme v0.1 appeares now! So what I was missing is actually this PNG datatype [I thought was implemented in OS].

Also I've tried AmiBoing demo - yes! It works! At high speed - so seems like only I am missing codecs for videos.

There is sound from playing Youtube [html5 mode] from OWB and mpr playing - all works great [just image is displayed slow but at least I can use Amiga for some YT vids!!! I will try other smtube and similar yt players.

I don`t intend to play videos from DVDs but just simple videos I copied from PC, to check out how fast they will be encoded.

I will check it out later :)

UPDATE:
Yes I've been banned from postings by mister moderator because I copied/pasted Vox's message. Crazy forum, I was thinking to remove myself and never come back as I was really mad... Punishing me because stories from Vox I didnt even follow due to lack for Amiga hobby time...

@djnick

That last note is a little baffling. Firstly, how did you make the note if youre banned from posting? :)
Secondly, surely no one is so petty and ridiculous as to ban you based on someone elses actions whose history youre not even aware of? There's got to be more to it than appearances suggest doesnt there?

Yes. Go to page 3 of this thread, somewhere in the middle and you will read what I was writen. I was given time to REMOVE what I copied/pasted from V** - I obviously forgot and I got posting ban for a week or so...

Never mind, life goes on... Everything is ok.

That's what I thought you meant and I think you mean "decode?". @broadblues gave you instructions for DVD, which is fine. If you use MPlayer-GUI, just use the tab for "input" and under that the tab for "file" and it should play the majority of your files transferred from PC after you use the file selector.
Keep in mind that some may not show in the file selector unless you change the "pattern" to either include missing extenders, or just change it to "#?".
