And I would've picked the A1200 every time. Those 486 peecees sucked big turds!

@Zylesea

Whether or not the machine is too limited, though, depends on what you want to use it for.
If your prime purpose is emails, basic web browsing (on less resource-heavy sites), maybe some RDesktop, with a bit of gaming, maybe 8-bit emulators too.. that sort of thing... then a 600MHz machine can be just fine.
If you're wanting to do encoding stuff and rendering, that sort of thing, then no, it's not for you - then you need a more powerful machine.
If you want to render HD video, and you bought a Sam 440ep, then you're a bit silly. :)

Point is though I can still enjoy myself on a 50MHz Amiga if I want to, as long as I don't try heavy things. 600MHz is plenty for most of what I use my Amigas for.

I have both A1200/030 and 486SX notebook. 486SX is 50 % faster than 68030 50 MHz. I have similar games for both systems (Populous II, Civilization, Settlers, Doom etc.), so I can judge pros and cons of both computers:

486SX notebook
+ faster CPU
+ portable
+ silent
- PC speaker
- only 64 shades of gray
- Windows 3.1

A1200/030
+ colourful GFX
+ Paula
+ AmigaOS
- slower CPU
- slower GFX redraw in some games (chunky vs planar)
- little bit loud (old HDD, it would be silent with CF )

I have no scandoubler for A1200 and use TFT display, not all games work now on this setup. There is no such problem on 486SX notebook - all games work OK.

I would pick that A1200 over the first generation Pentium as well. In fact, if a peecee can't run at least WinXP decently, then I'll pick that A1200 time and time again.

Cool, but it's still a 486. Also, what kind of an Amiga enthusiast would pick a 486 over an A1200 with Blizzard '30?

What kind of non-Amiga enthusiast wouldn't? The 486 setup is practically worthless (difficult to give away) and the Amiga setup is worth more than some computers that are probably 100x faster.
