@pavlor

yes, i make an calc . because Need for Speed time goes 1minute = 1 second
Need For Speed run at 360 fps :P
Quake and other benchmarks become crezy ... you see quake 0.1 fps and doom realitics up to 20.000 but i think for doom the realitics value is 0,2 :P

Softwindows is for sure the best X86 emulation in jit that i had been seen in all my life :P

WinUAE 3.0.0 Beta 26

New QEMU 2.2 based PowerPC emulation is a little bit faster than before (up to 30 % in OGR-NG), FPU emulation was also improved (nearly 3x faster in lame benchmark - still too slow to be useable). Seems to be even more compatible than previous version (eg. Dhrystone benchmark in DosBox reports correct results).

I had no problems in this regard. What is wrong? Did you follow Epsilon´s four part install guide. Note: it is for much older WinUAE version (PearPC CPU core), but most parts should be the same.

I can't get the OS4 installation to start.. The screen flashes to blue, then purple and stays purple flashing once in a while...

I have seen Epsilon´s guide, thanks But I give it another shot, maybe I forgot something...

Aah, finally I get the AOS4.1 installation to start

I think it was either that I had forgot to increase Z3 Fast to 256 MB,
or that my CD and Hardfiles tab was messed up.

Don´t forget to emulate Picasso IV GFX card (with proper ROM file), it wouldn´t be much fun on AGA.

qemu was 3x faster in fpu and still slow? How much it needs to be useable?

Beta 24 (with QEMU 2.1) gives 0.13x in lame benchmark.
Beta 26 (with QEMU 2.2) gives 0.38x in lame benchmark.
All on Core i5-2500K 3.3 GHz

For comparison:
SAM440flex 800MHz gives 2.9335x

@Tuxedo

On the other hand, MPlayer benchmark shows nearly 2x increase!

Beta 18: 466.950s
Beta 26: 238.031s
MUI-MPlayer; Core i5-2500K 3.3 GHz

Liveforit´s MPlayer is 12s slower (so similar result).

Now faster than SAM460 in this benchmark!

Note: As GFX is rather slow, it may be not so good for larger videos, will try play 720x576 TV show that works in WinUAE/OS3/FFPlay.

Edit2: As I thought, GFX seems to slow playback down. Will try 480p videos (360p play just fine).

ok, not so bad...
However first thing we need was at least 512MB of RAM(better 1GB) to get full AmigaOS 4.x/prrograms usability!

Hope Tony will solve also that issue...

Not Toni, Hyperion. They forced OS4 to use Z3 RAM as SWAP, not as normal Fast RAM. It makes sense on real hardware (Z3 RAM is too slow to be useable as Fast RAM), but user should have choice, I think.

I doubt that Hyperion will solve that issue...
But why WinUAE cant emulate a proper AmigaOne? wasnt simpler than emulate an accelerator board? And have none of that limitations?

It would be so simple change...

Toni is not interested in AmigaOne.

Of course, full QEMU could be used as basis for such AmigaOne emulator. "Porting" OS4 to QEMU wouldn´t be that hard. Last time they (Hyperion) tried QEMU based solution, it was too slow to be useable. That is clearly not the case today.

Ok,
that seems that we dont have a proper emulation for AmigaOS4.x so soon then...

@Tuxedo

I read the AF interview with Toni and it was most disappointing. The interviewer was obviously most excited at OS4 emulation but Toni's responses were so negative. He didn't care about PPC or OS4 nor what could run on it.

He simply put it in because he needed to get a ROM on a PPC card to run . He has no interest in PPC at all. Very discouraging.

Well better he is working on an Amiga emulator as he obviously has no heart for the machine or the OS.

Well, he invested nearly half year of his work into PowerPC support in WinUAE. Now, PowerPC emulation is fast, stable and compatble. What more could he do?

@Hypex

Toni is WinUAE, his interest is emulating Amiga and Amiga is not PPC but 68k to him (like many others in the community). He cannot solve the limitation introduced by Hyperion when running the "classic version" that is Hyperions turn. They also get the money for AmigaOS (not Toni).

If Hyperion wants to earn money by selling licenses they will have to offer a workaround/patch for that.
