Update on the X500 Evo cases.

White X500 Evos.

Inside the box:

An A4 instructions sheet, the assembled case with a 16x PCI Express flexible riser card, the X500 Evo key ring, some fixing clips.

I've installed the 2x50mm plus one 40mm rear and one 40mm side silent fans, they can be removed easily, flipped over to change the airflow etc...

The black silicone mounts for the fans can also be removed if required.

Also installed a white 3.5" USB card reader and slim Samsung DVD-RW with white bezel and slim SATA cable, both fixed to two custom made brackets.

The entire case can be completely disassembled, down to every component to adjust/modify anything you want.

If, for example, you require to adjust how tight the sides are all is needed is to relax/screw the bolts, if you want to replace the LEDs or the power switch (this is hidden under the right hand side of the cover) you can do that by removing the low to medium strength hot glue I've used etc...

The mechanical keyboard is fixed with two custom supports, these are also vertically adjustable with four screws underneath.

There are 6 mounting holes for mini-itx/flex atx motherboards and 2 extra mounting holes for half mini-itx boards (FPGAArcade Replay for example), these are also vertically adjustable.

Initially, due to the size of the mechanical keyboard I only envisaged the use of one SSD/HDD (don't use HDD...use SSDs!) but I managed to find the space for a second drive under the keyboard. It might be crowded for two SSDs and cables but at least you can decide where to position one of them.

Like the X500 Plus the Evo also has one expansion slot for low profile cards, custom made low profile bracket and L shaped fixing clamp and clip.

The keyboard has a four pin internal USB header. Make sure the keyboard is connected the right way, usually red is to pin number 1.

The fixing screws are black, you can change them if you want or spray paint them in white.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

White X500 Evo cases with mechanical keyboard and full set of white and beige Amiga keys with user's own language layout:

Francesco - Italian - Sent
Marios - dual Greek/American - Sent
Bernat - Spanish - Sent

John - Danish - Ready, delivery address required
Trevor - U.K. - Ready, delivery address required

Horst - German - Ready, waiting courier collection

Juha - Finnish - Ready, waiting courier collection

Most Black version are nearly ready, still waiting for the second batch of black keys, each one with its own language layout...

Expect an email from me asking for your delivery address soon.
It takes about 3-4 hours to assemble one...a bit more patience.

Thank you.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With Italian language layout.

Dual Greek/American language layout.

Thanks kyle.

X500 Evo with the Swedish (Finnish) layout - I had to compress the images as I'm running out of space...

With the colour Boing Ball and a "special" red/orange "A" - a nod to some Amiga 2000s...

@TheDaddy

I am at a loss for words. Even worse, I'm at a loss for smileys.
In the end I settled for this guy, as he seems to like typing:

Awesome work.

Edit:
And wow, that swedish version even has the ~ in the right place for an Amiga, how did you manage to pull that one off? I can sort of understand the rationale for where it is on PC keyboards, what with some languages using it as a diacritical mark, but for me personally I use it ~100 percent as a normal character (intentional use of it there), requiring an extra keypress on PC.

@olegil

You're too kind. Thank you very much, just trying to do my best...

I'm happy with both the Evo cases and the standalone USB mechanical keyboards.

The key sets took ages to make, measuring every single letter and symbol with a caliper from an A1200 required patience. I had to skip on some details otherwise I'd have gone nuts! but I wanted a high quality, modern keyboard for our Operating Systems...and of course the Evo. The different language layouts were converted from the U.K. base one which is the one I use.

Thanks again olegil.

@TheDaddy

Hey L,

I already bought one of these from you. I was wondering; can you put an Amiga 1200 in this and have the DVD drive/smart card reader work with it? If so, what cables would I need and what exact power supply would I need? Keep in mind, I will have accelerators, extra ram, etc, etc. Thanks.

Ed

Hi Ed,

It should fit. I haven't got an A1200 motherboard so I can't try. It sounds like an interesting project...

@TheDaddy

Great work. I still love my X500 case with the flat keys, but the real keyboard makes this a fantastic case! This project will look great on your CV.

@Darrin

Thanks Darrin. Still the black version to assemble (with the mechanical keyboard and Amiga keys) then the beige edition limited to 5 units. Then a bit of a rest.

I'd like to see your finished case with the Replay in one day.
I've received a few photos from people who have already started modifying and customizing their Evos, I hope they'll post some photos here too.
