EDIT: This have been changed now, OS4.1 Final requires no previous copy and is a Full install.

"AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition requires NO previous version of AmigaOS 4.x and is a stand-alone product, quite possibly the most affordable version of AmigaOS ever to be released."

Also, the OS4.1 Final will be a paid update (as we already know), you will need the serial code from your initial copy of OS4.1.

So a copy of the normal OS4.1 (with a serial) and a copy of OS4.1 Final is needed, the Final update is a full install in DVD casing.

Final update is also known as Update 8, the Update 7 was an internal update.

The features of OS4.1 Final will be presented in the upcoming Amiga Future magazine, buy it if you are not already a subcriber

IIRC of course

A new Early-Startup menu *this one is running on the X5000* (will be introduce in OS4.2 I believe, IIRC. Or maybe in the 4.1 Final, not sure...)

At last!! Very nice

I think that's a new U-Boot early startup menu, isn't it? Not a replacement for the usual Kickstart one, unless I misunderstood Epsilon's blog post.

That's neat, sounds like you've got most situations covered.

Nice work!

I'm fine with this, but psychologically I wish they'd give it a new release number rather than calling it an update. Make it 4.1.1 or something. Paying to update 4.1 to 4.1.1 seems reasonable, paying to update 4.1 to something called "4.1 final update" feels like you're paying for something that should be free.

I think this may not be the case.. Let's see if I can get a more definite answer for you..

[edit] after some developments, it is now a freestanding product, there is no requirement for a previous OS4 licence. I was right, I was wrong, I was right again. Sometimes it's just not worth waking up in the morning.

@Chris_Y

Nope, I think it is actually the Early-Startup in the Kickstart in fact. But I'm not totally 100% sure though...

EDIT: Oh, maybe it was the U-Boot early startup menu in fact... We'll see later

That's how I understood it from the stream, but I could be wrong thought... Let's wait for a definite answer then

Me personally, I have no problem paying for OS4.1 and also paying some bucks for the 4.1 Final.

My two cents

I absolutely agree.. I missed Steve's presentation, so I could be completely wrong.. But I will reply here when I get confirmation, either way.

Watching Andy on Sketchblock.. I have working audio and the video is frozen.. Is that from the source or is it just me?

edit: Marko is correct.
"FinalUpdate" does require a previous OS4.1 purchase.

I'm glad I checked before putting my foot too deeply into my mouth. :)

Video got back on just before Andy was done.

Now there's a break.
