| @tlosm Because of? You can run fs UAE on arm so you will be able to run os4 on cheaper hw. 69$ odroid is as fast as a x1000 if you run native linux. A odroid xu is 4 times faster and cost 179$. It should be able to emulate a nearly Sam like ArmigaOne.
As far as I understand Microsoft they plan to introduce a CPU independent dev-suite so windows apps of the future will be available natevily for arm and x86.
Arm is cool hmmkay : )
Meanwhile ppc user could use Qemu as I wrote. I need to see the benefit of exagear first : ) _________________ AROS Broadway - AEROS - Aminux - AmiCloud - indieGO! Appstore - AmiWallet - VAN lossless video codec - AMC Amiga media Center -KrypUnite - LibertyNet - MinX - amigaNX |

Fs Uae on Arm is more faster of an X1000 ? im not really sure expecially in FPU and Altivec operations :)
Pat6 1.8 Gghz 8800 mips on one core I dont think an arm with FSuae is faster compared 5020 ;)
.. this ArosX86 on Qemu running on an old G5 totally X86 machine emulated

Browsing intnet with Aros in Qemu G5
only for par contitio
Windows Xp SP3 Runnig on PowerMac G5
soon i will put the Rasperry pi emulation on qemu G5 host :P Last edited by tlosm on 21-Oct-2014 at 09:40 AM. Last edited by tlosm on 21-Oct-2014 at 09:27 AM.

| @tlosm If you run native code of course. Emulationwise X1000 maybe be better on the paper but because of lack of demanding Software you can skip that.

Like with all old machine , the old hardware is like this but the good of the powermac are the capacitors good quality ... worst there is only the water cooling in time will loose liquid and cooke the cpu or the psu.
Edit @OlafS25 check it ;)

I did some benchmarks some time ago and collected results from different sources... as long as you do not make full use of available cores (f.e. use only one) G5 is not bad, not only in comparation to X1000 but also in comparation to mainstream hardware. But it is old hardware and people prefer new hardware to old hardware (even if the old hardware runs quiet well). |

yes i know ... but with linuxPPC 64 i can continue use this great machine for some years more ... Will see what will change in time ... Apple was dead in 1985 and in 1999 but now ... note im not an Apple fun but a powerpc fan .
We dont know what will be in tecnology in next 5 years ... everything change and swap day by day ... Last edited by tlosm on 21-Oct-2014 at 10:01 AM.

| @tlosm Well you don't compare to the ARM A17 i showed you : ) And please add "Efficiency" to the math. You will loose. I liked the G5 quad pretty much and it is a beast but it is not aged well... It sucks more energy than all my Computers (and i have a lot) together. Sure most will loose in CPU demanding Tasks but they are "silent", passively cooled and suck as much energy as the USB-Controller of your G5 ; ) And more importand they give me better user experience (3D, MediaCenter, Instand on, MKV, gaming)
