To me it seemes like the BPi is what the Pi team should have released a year ago. I did get the Pi B model and two of the biggest shortcomings in the Pi seemed to be adressed in the BPi. - low memory (they did release a 512mb model, but mine is 256) - low cpu power (this one is dual core, and could probably be clocked up to 1.2ghz or higher?)
Other issues was the non-powered usb ports on the Pi. (dont know about the Bpi) The BPi also have more stuff like the IR and SATA, so if this gets some decent software it could be a cool board. Should be powerful enaugh to run android well also.

The problem with the Raspberry Pi is that both models A and B have a lack of GPIO pins for doing anything real with microcontrollers. If you wanted to use the Raspberry Pi as a cheap Graphics Processing Unit for other chips, it lacks pins and becomes difficult.

The USB ports supply as much power as any do. Anyway, USB has been improved on the B+, the B had a problem which meant you couldn't hot-swap without the thing rebooting.
