| Id be surprised if not at least key developers have got the X5000, as Varisys posted this video of them beta boards being made back in March.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOLmDcOvWzk
PS: I should say them prices you quote from my site are "best guess" I should really make that clearer on my site. I think also we only have to wait another month for some updates that I'm sure we will get at Amiwest Last edited by amigang on 01-Oct-2014 at 10:22 AM.

well, they might make some sales, not much, to industrial and/or military markets. I remain dubious on how much they'll sell to OS4 customers. It might be that the market has been saturated with X1000 - Cyrus might not offer any major performanse or price advantages to X1000 - so X1000 owners will probably choose not to upgrade. Current X1000 users represent, probably, 90% of the market for high end AmigaOS 4 machines.... So, if not them, who else is left?
They might offer MOS on them, but not a lot of MOS users will be willing to pay the high price - they already have the G5 models which are fast enough.

Presumably a guess based on the price of the nemo motherboard and the price difference between PA6T and P3041.

To whom are they going to sell these boards? Will X1000 owners upgrade? If not, how many potential customers left? Maybe sales to industrial partners? |
X3500 isn't an upgrade to the X1000. X5000 will be though since it has faster cores and higher clock rates. Some may upgrade to X5000 but most will probably find their X1000 to be sufficient for some years to come.
The whole Cyrus range will be more powerful than anything less than X1000 so would be an upgrade to owners of such systems that didn't upgrade to X1000, if upgrade is part of their plans.
Assuming that Cyrus based systems won't be released without 4.2, multi core support and at least Warp3D for Radeon HD5000/6000, then potential customers who are holding off for a complete driver set will take the plunge too.
The systems will be on sale for at least the next few years for those that want them. Whether or not there will be a big enough demand to support the development of a successor remains to be seen. |

Agreed. To me, X3500 would be the best choice if SMP is properly supported and If it's priced close to where current Sam460 prices are - maybe the reason for Sam 460 CR is to make more room for X3500.

but most of those already bought X1000 since all those things were promised years ago, on the X1000.

I was surprised that there is a market for it at all. Price will be not much different propably, Trevor already said that he is not interested to make competition on Acube. Some "crazy" that already own one of the X1000, will buy it additionally, some perhaps sell their X1000 and buy the new one and some who have waited up to now might buy one of the new devices. But "sale numbers" are top secret in the community |

"close to where current Sam460 prices are"
that will not happen. I remember reading from Trevor that he will not make competition on Acube. Acube for lowend and A-eon for highend. |

The fact that new lower end machines, Sam460ex-flex and Sam460ex, have not been available for at least 9 months may have increased the demand for Cyrus based systems.

You missed the Sam 460 CR reference...
Acube might ditch the normal SAM460, at least for OS4 market. The CR model could be 15-20% cheaper, thus leaving more room for a, say, 1200-1400 EUR X3500 system(Sam460 is, currently, around 1000 EUR for a complete system)
So, a 850 EUR SAM460 CR, followed by a 1200-1300 EUR X3500... There's more than enough room between the two. _________________

You mean people that wanted to buy a Sam now buy one of the new a-eon hardware? I do not think so because there is a huge price difference between the Sams and the "X" series. |

You mean only 400 EUR difference?
We will see when it will be officially announced

"Only" 400 EUR would be 50% of the Sam460CR price. _________________

| I hope that A-EON won't put a price too high on their next machines just because the X1000 owners will feel betrayed for having paid a kind of "premium" price.
I see the X1000 as the A1000, the A1000 was pricey then we got reasonable prices and the Amiga took off.

Who will take the risk for the production in high volumes?
Somebody must sign the contracts |

I think that most A1XE owners who want to get new machines are looking for more power than the Sam460ex has. _________________ Sam460ex : Radeon Rx550 Single slot Video Card : SIL3112 SATA card |

| Apparently there were more than enough people who wanted an X1000 but were left out of the waiting list, so i presume they are the primary target customers for these boards. Me not, i can't afford it and i'm happy with my mini SAM

It is actually going to be cheapar than X1000. Much because of the cheaper processor.

that is the part price of the component. It does not say anything about how much is requested from the buyer. The people who are interested in it should simply wait till it is officially announced. Everything else is speculation. |

finally something to agree on.
nearly every post in this thread is speculation, and mostly based on out-right guessing. as soon as the people involved are ready to tell us details, we'll know. until then there's really no point in arguing anything. but, hey, that's not going to stop the 'experts' from chiming in, so....
