@tomazkid

Samurai_Crow

He stated willingness.
He stated time available.
Non-controversial to most, which is all anyone can ask.

Additional plus is a different time zone covered methinks.

Went with the bold option which you requested in the last election, so you can spot the nicks easier at compilation time.

I think I should include what DaveyD said the last time around, since it might help both those thinking about doing this as well as those needing a bit of criteria on which to make their selections. Apologies for the length, but Davey's post is a good one.

Quote:
As some of our staff members have other commitments and cannot commit enough time to the website we now need to increase the number of staff to moderate the site.

So I'm opening this up to the users of the website to post their suggestions for new staff members, the most popular suggestions will go into a poll for voting.

Some of the commitments invovled checking the forums (preferably daily) making sure users adhere to the forum rules:
http://amigaworld.net/terms.php
Also processing abuse reports, approving news items, classifieds, links, etc, and getting involved in staff forum discussions.

(1) Staff will select members from the nominees for the poll based on popularity, activities, behaviour, history, geographical location, understanding of english and appropriateness.

(2) Please "bolden" nicks to make it easier for the staff to see your nominated members(s).

(3) If you have been elected PM me (DaveyD) whether you wish to take on this role or not.

(4) No one associated strongly with an amiga company or "camp" ideology
should be considered if trying to maintain an open minded flair to the
website.

Thanks
David

If you believe any of this non-applicable at this time Tommi, just edit it out.
Obviously they should contact you? and not Davey or is posting in the thread sufficient? (section 3)

@number6

while i'm flattered to be nominated by sundown and RobertJDohnert, i'm already a moderator at amiga.org. with all of the controversy surrounding the two sites now being owned/sponsored by A-EON, it's probably best if i declined. especially since i spend most of my time on amiga.org these days anyway.

but thanks, guys, for the nomination!

@marko

I am honored, and thank you for thinking of me in this light. However, it's not a job I would enjoy. Thanks and appreciation to those who work hard at doing the job well.

I am in two minds about moderating AW. On one hand if I see any dodgy corporate nonsense from the buyout, I would like to just walk away and find somewhere else to talk rubbish about Amigas, on the other hand for those of us who care and are concerned about this sort of thing perhaps I should be the Flash to the AW Ming. Probably best leaving it alone and just causing a lot of trouble until I get banned if I think things are going in the wrong direction. Yes that's what I'll do.

@tomaskid

I agree with the idea that moderators should be supportive of all platforms (did I really say that?). These days, with some polite interchange between the camps beginning to appear, all camps must be considered to have an equal right to make points.

On the other hand, there are those who do not own (and are never likely to own) any Amiga-like hardware or software at all, and who come here only to stir and create mischief. They ought to be banned from posting, in my opinion. We don't need them and they offer no value to the site.

There are several people who support AmigaOS, MorphOS and AROS - Trevor is perhaps the best known of them, but then there is Epsilon, with his balanced approach and good reputation. There are others.

I applaud Samurai_Crow's volunteering and I second Overflow's nomination of Epsilon.
