I have guigfxlibrary v20 in LIBS: it seems since rebuilding my system Aminetradio is insisting on V18 or it complains "Could not open guigfxlibrary v18", clicking OK then brings up a software failure.

Can anyone replicate this, or does it actually need the old version of this Library? Snoopdos shows it as loading it ok just before the guru.

You mean now, under AmigaOS 4.1?

Under AmigaOS 4.0 it worked just fine with guigfx.library 20.0.

Also, are you sure you are using the update fix?

AminetRadio worked more or less fine on AmigaOS 4.0, but crash on 4.1, a fix would be good

AmiNetRadio sadly doesn't work well on OS4 at all. The developer went the MorphOS way so the OS4 support was naturally lacking a bit, espcially since the program is written in Amiga-E, now ported to ECX.

I used it a lot on OS3. It had amazing looks and very good features, but it was too buggy to run on OS4, especially when the OS4 memory protection became stricter.

Edit:
This update actually works. Still crashes but one can ignore DSI. Unfortunately it uses AHI library and cannot share audio channels, and the Settings crashes with an ISI that cannot be ignored. So now I'm stuck playing one radio channel with a frozen GUI...

I would recommend TuneNet or AmigaAMP for OS4.

I suggest to use AmigaAMP with aTunes help,
IMHO actually it's the best way to radio listen on AOS4,
if you doesnt already know aTunes it's in zTools package on AmigaStore

Yes I do use AmigaAmp as well, just I have Aminetradio running nicely on MorphOS and would be nice to import my big list of streams into it.

As far as I see it should run ok on 3.9?

Well in that case all he needs to do is compile it for OS4. Simple. That and add interfaces which #?OS programmers probably hate and I can understand why.

@danwood

Are you using MUI 3.8 or MUI 3.9?

Sure, but the program itself is still buggy it appears. I'm not sure it's still supported, at least not the 68k build, which we use on OS4.

No I don't think it is buggy, the 68k program was made for MorphOS, and so he might have used things that are only available to morphos, the result is that you have JMP that points out side of AmigaOS 3.x JMP table. (and even worse you can get conflicting LVO offset values)

If I'm right then developer should have taken more care to identify the OS it was running on, and check library versions. If wrong versions where in the OS it should have disabled feature or denied it to run.

@danwood

Then the problem is very likely in MUI 3.9. ANR checks if muimaster.library is new enough and enables bunch of new stuff what is likely missing from your MUI 3.9.

You could verify this by reinstalling MUI 3.8 and see if it helps. If it works you can contact MUI 3.9 developers so they can track down the problem. If you bother with the reinstall, that is.

Edit: Before going there I would try older version of guigfx.library. Just in case... Newer versions are not always better. And check if guigfx.mcc is installed (I don't remember is it used). There is a bug in ANR that if some library or class is missing it can crash when cleaning up. That part was never tested properly.

@NutsAboutAmiga

It does work with AmigaOS, we had couple of beta testers to verify this.

If we provide you some help (crashlogs, test etc.) do you think it would be possible to have a fixed version that will run again on OS4 ?

No :) the developer has left several years ago after losing interest on both ANR and MorphOS or Amiga in general, found a gf and so on. The software is what it is, no further bug fixes or improvements coming.

Author still logins to IRC irregularly but when someone has lost interest he has lost interest. It is a shame but there is nothing we can do.

What a bizzare thing to do. If it's for MOS why not just compile as MOS?

That cas be a problem. AFAIK both OS4 and MOS upped version numbers to at least 50.

This is what happens in a split community without a single guiding force.

There a few good reasons. Lack of E compiler that could produce PPC code, making PPC native build add no value and you have to build and debug only one binary.

I wonder if the author may consider releasing the source if he still has it.

I don't see that as an excuse since the ECX project has been going since 2002. Don't recall when it got MOS support but experiemental OS4 supoport came 6 years ago. So there was enough time to make a MOS binary.
