Nex week(now I'm not at home) I'll try to use some sort of product to reactivate electrical contacts on ram sockets(and maybe on ram modules?)...

Since with my old 1gb modules it wont starts and with the other 512mb ram I tryed it starts at first attempt also with 2 x 512 mb connected), I hope the problem was only related to that...

See you soon...

But, but, but, but. That's TEXT!!!!!oneonetwo. Surely it must be possible to get it to fax a picture so Amigans don't need to read text.

Also, most serial port software for Windows sucks so badly I wouldn't even use them for a debug output.

What's wrong with PuTTY?

Update...

- I've changed the ram modules
- I've changed the HDD that seems broken

All seems ok util I'll use the net...seems that via-rhine device locks up for some reason...
I get problems while connected and downlolading files and especially if using Odissey(it seems)...

Any idea? Maybe tring some eth card(wich supported?) to see if problem persist?

All other things seems working ok atm, but doing some more tests...

@Tuxedo

It seems the same problems of my Peg2: it worked well but once opened the browser (Odyssey) I always have freezes of the system after few time.

I sold my Peg2 but the new owner (genny_flick) resolved the problem changing some capacitors on cpu module and on motherboard

that seems a point...
I can ask someone that repair PC's to look on mobo then...

EDIT: can you pm me genny_flink mail to ask him if he repaired the mobo itself or where?

little update.

Ok, I'll get back my cpu card from the guy taht have switched the capacitors on than...nothing seems changed unfortunately...
asap I get heavy network data transfer I get the system freeze...

Any idea if I can maybe try a PCI network card to see if the problem persist? Or maybe some other test?

Without network I can do nearly anything and I'm not getting any problem...I've burned DVD, trasferred data over USB2.0 NEC card, used Blender, coded in Hollywood, and so on....

Maybe I can try to lok for someone with another Pegasos2 to send him my cpu card to try if he have same problems with my cpu card?

Did you try both ethernet ports on Pegasos 2 already? If GigE port has failed you are probably out of luck.

@Tuxedo

Why in the world would you mess with cpu caps just to try it? Why didnt you take my advice and contact Bplan? They still service peg2 boards. And of course you can use a pci card. Also try the Gige port like itix suggested.

@ChainQ

Thanks for stopping the "reballing" stupidity. Peg2s are VERY reliable hardware.

@itix

Only one of the two eth ports works on AmigaOS 4...on MOS works all the two ports? Actually my mos partition was broken but I can try to install it again if its a good test to do...

@realize

I chanced capacitors since a guy here in Italy with same locks up problem solved in that way...remember that that components relative life was about 10 years...
I'll contact balance only as last chance...for sure I was big expenses to send and repair the board if wasn't simple capacitors the problem and also I will be sure if was mobo or cpu card the problem...

Oh, I see. GigE is supported in MorphOS. No need to install MorphOS, just boot from MorphOS CD and see if it works.

ok I tryed...
no way to get gigabit eth working...
The gigabit eth was the mos default activated port right?
Well, if I activate the viarhine port(the 100mbit) it works ok, but gets crash also under mos like on os4 and some sites was worst than other sites to gets crashes...for example Amigaworld works quite fine instead the AmigaNews italian sitecrashes quite immediately aftrer loaded it...WEIRD!

However tryed to use gigabit without success...also if I plug the eth cable on it that port don shows any activity(like the flashing leds on 100mbit one that will flash also if I simply plug the cable without use the net)...maybe that port have some sort of problem itself?

And at last I cant get a clue on the problem...any news idea there?

Thank you.

@Tuxedo

There is a hardware service company in Portugal that offers service for retro stuff and Pegasos 2 is recently added on their service list. They actually contacted me on Amibay after a topic about two broken boards I got. My case is probably the marvell dicovery northbridge chip, especially in one board. In general they are in contsct with hardware suppliers and they are able to replace hardware parts on the mobo, in the case of the north bridge chip this is possible.

Well I can not guarandee anything but I will soon send them my hardware. If you want I can bring you in touch with them.

I cant remember. It could be other way around because MorphOS 1.x did not support GigE. Interface can be enabled from network settings.

Try to reproduce using built-in GigE or PCI ethernet card.

Its important on rare exotic hardware not to just "try things" and replace components when you dont have to. Im going to ask you why havent you contacted bplan? I just dont get it? They do service of peg2 and are the oem.
What ram do you have out of curiosity? also any realtek pci network card will prolly work ootb so try that and report back.. meanwhile send bplan an email.

@Morphix

Why would you use a 3rd party when bplan is still in biz?
