ok, currently I've finished the settings inizialization from the program... Next step was to save the prefs in ENVARC: (or in ENV: depending if saved or used) and than loading it back...I decided to dismiss the ToolType settings for the "usual" prefs file stored in ENVARC: that was much user-friendly and secure to keep preferences active also on system restart and /or programm icon loss... Next step after that was to add a new tab to the preferences editor to add some sort of guided setup procedure to define env variables, paths and anything the program needs to work properly... Last but not the least was to add some litle new features (a zoom indicator), some more Exif infos(if possible) and some other minor changes...
After that I plan to release the stable version somewhere from 1st and 15th of march(release time was exended since new features added)...
However everyone feel free to add comments and any other feedback if possible!
Thank you! _________________ Simone"Tuxedo"Monsignori, Perugia, ITALY. |

a little status update... Now we have:
- a full editor for LoView to change/choose every prefs that before was stored in ToolTypes
- a new window resize behaviour(now it will resize image like on ScaleUp / ScaleDown prefs
- added a zoom indicator in the status bar
- now the file LoViewDT was automatically generated from LoVIew(with a dedicated button in the INSTALL tab of the prefs) and no more any variable needed a guided procedure ask you to choose the path where LoView was installed and than create the LoViewDT srcipt an place it in C:
I also plan to add button for adding lines on AmigaOS context menu for choosing use LoView for viewing images and some sort of auto set icon ToolTypes of some standard image extension(like iff, jpg(and jpeg), gif, tiff, targa, and so on) so the user dont have to bother with such annoying porcedure and have life easyer... And some few other thing I've still to set up...
After finishing with LoView I plan also to put some sort of editor also on LoViewThumb...
Maybe the release date will move on a bit more... _________________ Simone"Tuxedo"Monsignori, Perugia, ITALY. |

Feature question for all interested guys...
Currently LoView if you save a pic from main program window(i.e. not from Edit mode) will save the displayed picture size and not the original file.. That was usefull if you rotated scaled or flipped the image to preserve what you done...generally you have to choose the copy/move option to "save" the image in its original dimensions and attributes, I think that was fine but if you simply like to convert image format to another format preserving originale size you have to press before saving the "Zoom To Real" button...
So the question was:
"Do you like to maintain the current LoView behaviour or prefer to change it someway?"
Thank you for collaboration.
PS IMHO was quite usefull the current way... _________________ Simone"Tuxedo"Monsignori, Perugia, ITALY. |

Generally when saving an image I am either cropping it and then saving it, or converting an image from one format to another.
For me I would prefer it to preserve the original size of the image when saving by default, and an option to save it as per the displayed screen to be present for those who prefer the other way around.
Perhaps it could be a setting in preferences or something that allows the user to change the behaviour for their preference?
My two cents anyway. Thanks for your work on this program!

Hi Tuxedo,
why you don't make a requester like " 'actual window size' or 'original size' " before saving? So we can choose it everytime.

yes, as requested also by Epsilon I'm thinking on sometnig like that...so anyone can choose every time he saves a pic how save it...
Meantime now LoView was almost installable completely from doubleclick on an install icon and also you can setup from 8 different images types to be associated automatically to LoView... _________________ Simone"Tuxedo"Monsignori, Perugia, ITALY. |

Currently the isntallation procedure seems to be done together to the extended Exif read routine and the new LoadALL prefs(with taht on LoView wont anymore scan entire dir but meantime you look the images in the dir it will skip the files that wasnt images...
I think that I'll rleease only a prefs editor for the main LoView program atm ant left ToolTypes on for LoViewThumnb...onestly that "simple" new release was grow too much(the prefs editor that was a really big task imho, many bug fixes, and much new features...) for my plans and currently I lost a bit of motivation...
Also I plan to release it fo OS4 only(inbetween a week or so) at the beginning and than for other platforms...
Hope that was ok... _________________ Simone"Tuxedo"Monsignori, Perugia, ITALY. |

Reading this thread made me go back to LoView, as I haven't used it in a while.
Just found I got an error if I set the tool type FULL_SCREEN to TRUE:
Unable to change current display to 1920x1080 ! File:LoView.hws (current line: 9908 - in function: SetDisplayAttributes)

Hi and thank you for feedback!
I hope that screen sitch problems are all gone in the new upcoming(hope before 25 april) release... I managed to solve all that issues(maybe with some gfx refresh glitches but in a working way to avoid all these screen switch errors...).
Plz stay tuned and try it on the new release, at that point wasnt usefull to look on old code to look for the problem...
See you soon :) _________________ Simone"Tuxedo"Monsignori, Perugia, ITALY. |

Amazing. I like it very much. The fx effects are now hardware accelerated, isn`t it ? Maybe there are some bugs but i need to test it more

Tried today the latest LoView 2.80. It looks really great. I wonder, did you use any image library for the effects, or are they implemented using hollywood?
I had a problem with thumber. I loaded a folder and an error occurred after the load of the first image. I have a screenshot for you. I never had this error with LoView 2.51

Congratulations on the new version release of LoView.
Unfortunately my X1000 is currently non functional and in the hands of Amigakit right now. So I can't test the latest release with the X1000 to see the very significant changes you have made...sounds great though!
Hopefully I can try it out soon.

I did a few tests with the files. I moved them in a different folder one by one, and the problem still exists. I tried then on the new folder and they worked just fine. The problem seems not to be at the files, but at a subfolder that exists at the first folder. I mean that when thumber scans a folder where there is an other folder, it crashes with the above error message. It seems it checks the folder as image. I can send you the whole folder with all the images if you want to do some tests. Just PM me your email. _________________ Amiga-Look.org - Beautify your Workbench |

| Found a bug while loading one of my pictures. Dont know but maybe its because the picture was taken vertically with the camera. If i watch it with for example fastview it shows the picture horizontaly.
Error: Table field 2 was not initialized! File: LoView.hws (current line: 11126 - In function: p_caricaimmagine)
I sent you a mail with the picture.
