@OlafS25

To take your example thread:

Compare Ferrels comment with BZillis later reasoned argument about why you likely need more CPU grunt to achive a PS2 emulator.

Ferrels is destructive (and blatantly untrue) adding nothing useful to the discussion whilst BZillis is helpful at least in so far as explaining why the problem (Of making an PS2 emulator) might be difficult to solve.

Your benchmark example is alittle more complex, as external benchmarks could be used as a put down to take the edge of a sucessful improvemt, or they could be useful info on how much more work there is to do, timeing and tone is everything here.

bankruptcy is a financial and legal issue and in that sense they are certainly not (if I understand it right they now officially never were). The court checked numbers, what is on deposit, what income do they have, ...

Why should the court care bout any of those ?

All it cares for is wether the creditor that filed for Hyperion's bankrutcy is "satisfied" (assuming no other creditor entered claims in the meantime) . It won't ever bother checking if,by whom and how much of the claim has been paid as long as the creditor says "all fine".

Being bankrupt and being declared bankrupt is the same as being dead and being declared dead, one can easily be the 1st long before the 2nd happens.

Why would the thread be locked when we are finally trying to get some real answers about the future of os4?

Because historically, asking questions and questioning direction are miscast as derision.

Everyone agrees that trolling is an annoying nuisance but it's not any more so than the dismissive "life is complicated, think nice thoughts" mantras.

I'd say this thread is no longer useful , if there
are questions to be asked about future life
universe and all new thread can be made , right ?

Besides , question of this thread was answered
so here's a hint :

Ask how do people expect Hyperion to develop
multicore support and Gallium when they have to
make sure that OS4 runs on new hardware from
AEon now.I don't mean driver support , I mean just
make sure the OS actually runs on new system
(probably not a small task even if the systems
are not that different).

Not one single word has changed and it still states clearly:

No reports are available yet.

Since the world at large doesn't go poking around an Amiga forum to get their news, it might be prudent for Hyperion to try to get a "new report" added, since the above link is STILL the website info that comes up if you happen to use google...

There is disclaimer stating that site is updated as
fast as they can but they don't take responsibility
if it is not.

Besides , even more the reason to lock thread and
wait in my opinion.

Hyperyonmp already posted his response and anyone
can check what was told on the subject.

Anyway , just a suggestion ...

Googling for "Hyperion Entertainment" here doesn't get that link on the first page, (halfway down second in fact). There are however serveral prominent os news and another blogs links that announce the bankrupcy.

So perhaps a "press release" confirming the non bankruptcy status might be sensible, so that the blogs and osnews sites can update accordingly.

I think the wiki sums up what we are stating:

Quote:
The declarion was apparently overturned on 2 April 2015, but no official statement from court or the company is available.

Well , I see speculations not facts.

8. What are the rules relating to reorganisation proceedings?

During the observation period (NOTE: 6 months at least , can be 9) no enforcement measures may be taken or applied against movable or immovable assets.

Law in every country has it's way of doing things so
unless someone besides Hyperion's official owner/legal
staff has any comments I still say it's pointless.

Here it can take up to 30 working days for court to publish
decision sometimes.

I gather you're saying this prevents Hyperion from posting the result on their own website or creating a press release, until it IS official?

If you think I spend my time reading Belgium law for these
matters you're wrong :)

Hyperionmp gave very clear answer in this thread leaving
no room for speculation at least about this thread.

My point was that speculations cause harm to any company
in situation like this so I would say the same if it was
Amikit , AEon , former CUSA or anyone else that's all.

Official court decision will be known eventually and
then all will be clear.Note that it can mean more than
one thing as it can lead to reorganizing company, removing
it from registry, selling it (maybe few more) but I see no
reason to doubt given answer by poster HYPERYONMP
as it makes sense to me at least. Also that it takes time.

I'm too lazy to check right now, but IIRC this particular site takes its information from the Belgian "Letter of State" (no idea about the proper English term - a newsletter where all status changes regarding Belgian companies are published). No idea how often this newsletter is released.

@cgutjahr

I tend to look at things logically, which might not be the best approach.

When I read:

Quote:
The hearing will take place next week on Tuesday and one week later the decision of the Court

Source

I don't read this as "we'll have a decision one week after, but we won't bother to publish it then" or "on the same site where we announced it".

I think I made the point before that too much specificness is being infered from an informal reply to a third party query, wriiten in what I assume (but may be incorrect) is not the authors first language.

Publishing date is not even mentioned.

Perhaps Hyperion wish to avoid making a formal public statement till after it's official published, to avoid any contempt of court type situations, who knows to be honest, I certainly don't.
