@MARCOM

thanks for the help Marcus! looking forward to make my X1000 CPU quieter since I'm awaiting the arrival of a new Radeon HD7950 with 3 fans to enjoy real 3d again! hoping the 3 fans on the card are at least not as noisy as the original fan on the X1000's cpu.

@MARCOM

finally got around to installing my MagmaBreath in my X1K and after 48 hours I'm very happy with the results in both sound reduction heat reduction so big thanks to Marcom Computer

Prior to the upgrade after 48 hours of constant use numbers were:
CPU- 47 deg.C
Core1-52
Core2-50

with MagmaBreath installed after 48 hrs I was pleased to see a significant decrease:

CPU- 38 deg.C
Core1-43
Core2-40

(Note: these figures were with the same Radeon 6850 single slot, low socket video card installed)

for those interested in the install I updated my Man Cave Ramblings blog

@pavlor

Threads about the same thing, cooling. Best thing i bought for x1000 instead of the hairblower/jet engine noise that comes default :)

When I get the X5000/040 I will take a closer look in the shop...

Low fan noise (or passive cooling and low temp) is something I prioritize highly

@Signal

Quote:
Why they put all those holes in the back is beyond my understanding.

I guess those holes are for them who might want to install water cooling with the radiator outside the box, etc.

Quote:
Suck the air in the back then blow it right out the back?

Agree, little fooly.. Better to do like you did, better (or proper) airflow in the box and lower temps

Edit: damn typos

About water cooling, I would like to, but I'm too paranoid about leakage heh
