Make sure that you have the following line in your SYS:Kickstart/Kicklayout file
MODULE Kickstart/RadeonHD.chip
if not then you have to add it manually. _________________ Sam460ex : Radeon Rx550 Single slot Video Card : SIL3112 SATA card |

You need to buy 1.x first, then a discount for 2.x if wanted after, or pay more for 2.x to start. _________________ Hate tends to make you look stupid... |

MODULE Kickstart/RadeonHD.chip is not in SYS:Kickstart/Kicklayout file.
If I add the line into the kicklayout file and restart with it still boot with the onboard M9 chip?
I do have one problem I could probably do with fixing, my computer doesn't boot properly, it first goes into uboot where I type boota and it loads from the hard drive.
I also at some point have to install my OS4.1 final edition. _________________ 1 AmigaOne G4XE (OS4 Pre-Release Update4) Minimig Sam440ep + OS4.1FE Sam460cr + OS4.1FE |

Would it be better for me to get OS4.1 FE installed before I carry on with my RadeonHD driver issues?
At the moment when I put the OS4.1 FE disc in the computer and restart it appears to be low res and all I see is the top half of a boing ball with the word "booting" above it and even when left it still doesn't seem to go any further and the CD drive seems to have no life _________________ 1 AmigaOne G4XE (OS4 Pre-Release Update4) Minimig Sam440ep + OS4.1FE Sam460cr + OS4.1FE |

Yes, it will boot just fine (provided that you copied RadeonHD.chip to the Kickstart/ drawer beforehand. If the primary graphics card is a Radeon M9, then it will load the atiradeon.chip driver. The kicklayout line above just makes the Radeon HD driver available for us on bootup.

Yes. The Sam440 OS4.1 FE CD does not include the Radeon HD driver, so it won't be able to boot with the Radeon HD card as the primary graphics card. It is possible to choose the primary graphics card in UBoot, but it would be much easier to install the OS first, and the card later.
You may also want to check that you have the latest version of UBoot installed on your Sam440. I can't remember if it was fixed, but there were older versions of UBoot for the Sam440 that would show UBoot on one graphics card, but OS4 would boot on the other.

I wouldn't have a clue which UBoot version is what, but the choice of which graphics card to use is usually under "Video options"

Exactly what is the difficulty there? Isn't the installation procedure roughly the same as for AmigaOS 4.1?
If you still have that Radeon HD card plugged in, then remove it for now.

At the moment to get into any workbench I have to boot from the hard drive which is OS4.1.6,
Once into workbench 4.1.6 when you insert the OS4.1FE there is no install open on the CD which means you have to boot from the CD which I can't do _________________ 1 AmigaOne G4XE (OS4 Pre-Release Update4) Minimig Sam440ep + OS4.1FE Sam460cr + OS4.1FE |

I don't know why the Sam version of FE is missing the HD driver, one of the reasons for FE was to have a bootable recovery CD and here it fails. Perhaps it was thought Sam 440 users wouldn't want to upgrade the VGA but an earlier Sam ISO has the opposite problem!
In any case what's stopping you from booting the CD? UBoot not booting CD? Blank screen? If you have the onboard VGA enabled in UBoot and the monitor hooked up to it then the CD should work fine. |

You have the wrong settings for the boot devices . You can set the correct ones from the workbench cli by typing the following commands each followed by the enter key.
nvsetvar boot1=s4siicdrom nvsetvar boot2=s4sii _________________ Sam460ex : Radeon Rx550 Single slot Video Card : SIL3112 SATA card |

I think your menuboot_cmd is wrong. It should be "boota" or at least that's what I have it as here.
Output of nvgetvar on my sam460: Quote:

I have changed the 2 variables as descrubed and when rebooting it comes up with the uboot prompt "]"
However at this point with the OS4.1 FE in the CD drive when I type boota it loads the kickstart 4.1.6 from the haard drive nut then goes on to the splash screen for the FE CD which shows part of a boing ball with word Booting above it.
At this point it seems to be doing no more it just stays on screen. _________________ 1 AmigaOne G4XE (OS4 Pre-Release Update4) Minimig Sam440ep + OS4.1FE Sam460cr + OS4.1FE |
