We are looking for a nice troll to guard our cellar. Interested?

Why not try Trixie instead, he looks much more like a troll than me.

unfortunately i find something wrong and i don't know if depends by emulation limit.
mplayer don't work because it cannot initialize video. I'd like to see a video playback..

i tried to use dvplayer with some dvd trailer, but Winuae don't load CD. I set SCSI and CyberstormSCSI, but no idea why don't mount CD.
USB key don't work..

so..to find some programs to test is very hard

If it does not work its not an emulator limit but a Hyperion AmigaOS 4 limit.

Settings/Hardware/CD & Hard drives. just tick all the options like this:

Maybe. Biggest problem of SDL frontend are its limitations. I rather reverted to IBrowse in my 68k configuration.

you are free to do.

Well, not exactly, it's a hardware restriction. With the same settings emulating the same hardware it's the same for OS3.x as well.

You can of course set-up a config for 68k OS that has shedloads of RAM, but that's a different kettle of fish

@thread

Perhaps this ends up in the development of A1 emulator to enable official AOS4.1 testing without buying new HW.
+ That kind of emulator can be handy when one day CPU ISA is changed.
+ It can help sandboxing AOS4 API apps (and MorphOS apps) for NG 64bit+SMP+memoryprotection systems.

you must use -vo cgx_wpa (or similar depending on MPlayer version). For audio, use -ao sdl (or ahi, if available).

Don´t expect anything better than 240p, lack of overlay slows it down. However, pure video decoding is neraly faster than SAM460.

Will post some MPlayer benchmarks later.

If you have other questions about WinUAE/OS4, feel free to post them. I have 20+ GB Work partition full of games and applications... plenty of experience.

WinUAE 3.1.0 Beta 11 (older beta was faster, but had timing issues) on Core i5-2500K 3.3 GHz AmigaOS 4.1 FE. MPlayer benchmark with Prometheus trailer:

Pure video decoding
4.Work:Utils/dnetc> mplayer -benchmark -nosound -ao null -vo null -lavdopts skiploopfilter=none "Work:Utils/mplayer/generic/Prometheus - Trailer.mp4"

BENCHMARKs: VC: 340.407s VO: 0.020s A: 0.000s Sys: 3.240s = 343.667s
BENCHMARK%: VC: 99.0514% VO: 0.0058% A: 0.0000% Sys: 0.9427% = 100.0000%

Video decoding+video playback
4.Work:Utils/dnetc> mplayer -benchmark -nosound -ao ahi -vo cgx_wpa -lavdopts skiploopfilter=none "Work:Utils/mplayer/generic/Prometheus - Trailer.mp4"

BENCHMARKs: VC: 346.187s VO: 250.715s A: 0.000s Sys: 2.379s = 599.282s
BENCHMARK%: VC: 57.7670% VO: 41.8359% A: 0.0000% Sys: 0.3970% = 100.0000%

Video decoding+video playback+audio playback
4.Work:Utils/dnetc> mplayer -benchmark -ao ahi -vo cgx_wpa -lavdopts skiploopfilter=none "Work:Utils/mplayer/generic/Prometheus - Trailer.mp4"

BENCHMARKs: VC: 359.240s VO: 264.192s A: 31.532s Sys: 38.090s = 693.054s
BENCHMARK%: VC: 51.8343% VO: 38.1199% A: 4.5497% Sys: 5.4960% = 100.0000%

Edit: Results are with debug kernel (used in some of my experiments...), so somewhat slower than with normal kernel (cca 15 %).

pure cpu benchmarks may look good on winuae, as this excludes chipset calculation while benchmarking

chipset emulation is still there, even when you execute pure CPU benchmarks.

As QEMU emulates also MMU it looks superior in comparison to WinUAE JIT. And as I wrote, integer code runs faster in QEMU (with MMU) than in WinUAE JIT (without MMU).

What kind of tests have you made? A 68K app which runs on WinUAE/68K, and the same which runs on WinUAE/PowerPC using Petunia? Just to have an idea.

Nice video. But you are aware that you emulate an Amiga double up when you run OS4 in WinUAE? It runs enormously much faster if you use the real Commodore Amiga OS instead of Hyperion OS.

Jebus Kristina?! Why was this post reported as "site abuse [Violated Trolling]"?

If you believe to give people good advice that will improve their quality of life many notches is trolling, you can not be screwed together properly. The trolls are those who try to tric innocent people into buying junk like Hyperion Amiga OS4 classic.

Maybe someone was upset that you called it "Commodore Amiga OS" when there in fact was never an "Amiga OS" released by Commodore (the first one who released a product called "Amiga OS" was Escom, and then Haage&Partner, followed by Hyperion)!

(And no, it wasn't me who reported you, the day I will descend to such filthy Stasi/Nazi methods instead of standing up for my views openly, will be the day that hell freezes over! )

However, legal status of Village Tronic distribution is disputed.

So was/is the legality of MorphOS and existence of alien visitors to this planet.
