Cool stuff.
I love that little hint Trevor drops near the end about further developments in the pipeline.
I'm sure he still has some surprises in store.

@zzd10h

Just for you Frenchie

Quote from Trevor Dickinson:

We do have other developments in the works, I mean... apart from the X5000. So for us we are still investing. But we are putting a lot more effort into software because content is key.

@wawa

What a cheerful fellow you are!

@BigD

Yes, thanks.
I sometimes have trouble deciphering the British when they use our common language, but that is a very precise translation.

Guess I'll go back to dragging that corpse around.

@iggy

I belive he consentrates on AROS;

http://www.amigaforum.de/index.php?topic=89.0

http://www.amigaforum.de/index.php?topic=42.0

Sounds like hes doing his bit with regards to what intrest him.

I do think its the entry point for hardware prices are a major hurdle for several "amigans", myself included. That said; I support hardware peripheral/software developers by purchasing addons to my "classic" machine.
And the Amiga community is richer with a high energy person like Trevor.
Same with Kookytech, that doesnt get hung up on "negatives", but focus on the merits of all paths "Amiga" has taken.

It's not actually a hint when he flat out states it.

Ah, I just logged on to delete the content of the posts as I didn't like my tone.
My apologies to all.
Especially in light of the AROS connection.

Nice interview, the end is interesting even if we don't know really what he is talking about (ie no details) but he says that he got close to some orginals developers during the last 2/3 show so something interesting might come out of it...

@kamelit0

Yeah sure sounds like some of the original developers have gotten the old spark back, and now wants to help with the future Amiga platform.

Could this really be true?...WOW!!

If this is true then by all means BRING IT ON!!

The thing is; Trevor and his friends/buissniss partners can only do so much.
Same with developers.

Its a chicken and the egg situation.

We, as grunt level users, can support accelerated development (on the glacial speed scale we expect from AOS by default) by being supportive of the developers that are still active.
Or even provide incentive for "outsiders" to support the platform(s).
Take Tower 57. Looks like a good game, and it seemed only by chance we now got a version for our platform thru active encouragement from kickstarters/donators.
Then an active amiga developer got involved; Daytona.

Point is; on a small/microscopic/hobby platform like ours, even small things like this will hopefully help Trevor/Aeon, Hyperion, AROS devs and MorphOS devs (and others) to keep up with developing the OS.

For the record; I dont expect Amiga(s) to ever grow beyond a somewhat alive hobby community, but why not make it a positive and growing exprience?

@Overflow

Yes but we also need to put a list of vital applications we need and avoid duplicate effort and put that list down and then do another list...
I'm looking forward Amiwest announcements it will for sure not be the panacea but at least they need to show Mutli core support and deliver early next year.

@thread

Nice interview and great thanks to Trevor and the teams involved in creating nextgen systems.

Interesting to hear new things in development - as they could be hardware or software projects.

I was disappointed not hearing anything about Amiga legacy, its ethos and future direction.

Being a fan is great, but truly understanding what Amiga is/was in terms of hardware and software and its evolution is not mentioned at all.

I would like to hear plans of ex commodore engineers creating a new motherboard from scratch using Dave Haynies Future Super Amiga Acutiator designs.

I dont think that any of Next gen motherboard designers have any idea of what AGA/AAA/Hombre/Acutiator projects were, so they have no true understanding about Amiga philosophy, ideals direction for future.

Dave Haynie has a firm grasp of using off the shelf parts to create new Amiga systems, for example finding the best audio chips or sophisticated Digital Signal Processors to create unique hardware.

But linking what current software is struggling with today and accelerating in hardware is where Amiga excelled at - it created a fluid smooth system with low cpu usage.

Acutiator
http://www.thule.no/haynie/research/acutiatr/docs/acu1.pdf

I do believe a 1 GHZ processor ( ~ $100) with a few DSPs and hardware accelerated media processors for 4K video playback & encoding would be a step in the right direction.

Also hardware register access to Graphics system would bring the fun in "what can we do with this hardware" back again.
