Anything more up to date would have to have been from Amiga30 EU or CA a/v.

redesigning electronics to save money is a bit of an oxymoron, yes. Moving a single resistor on a PCB will cost you thousands of euros (PCB itself + solder mask + pick and place reprogramming etc), imagine a complete redesign.
So it would actually seem that rather than fix bugs in current products, one should always scrap and redo from scratch. Haven't thought of this before I wonder if my boss would buy that thought. _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Sometimes I don't even know what people mean. |

| @bennymee Demonstrating and release for sale can be one and the same... but I think the OP wants info on being able to buy and take home...
The working Cyrus board was demoed at AmiWest2014 and Amiga30 California.

| Since the new A-eon boards have an Xmos chip on-board AFAIK, I wonder if they will be selling a useable protoboard for those people interested in developing something to use it for.
What they came up with for the Nemo board is complete crap.

So do you know some thing we don't? What products/resources are there to support the XMOS chip on AmigaOnes? Other than this bare bones board;

The question is has anyone actually populated one of these boards yet and to do what? _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

i would rather expect the people to buy them to frame them and nail them to the wall. likely it was meant that way to start with, so no problem. |

I don't understand It's a rather expensive wall decoration. I'd rather have one of those unpopulated A4000T boards that you see on eBay every so often. Surely if you buy one you'd try and create something? Last edited by BigD on 26-Sep-2015 at 11:35 PM.

These boards are not what would be considered a prototyping board by a hobbyist. If you wish to put a 16 pin chip on this board you best be prepared to cut at least 16 traces that are under the coating. These are bus boards, not protoboards.
Also the pins from the Xorro slot were brought out over the PCIe x1 slot rendering it useless to communicate with Nemo for large data transfers. Which doesn't really matter since we have no PCIe cards that work with Nemo, BUT.... we do have games we can purchase. _________________ Tinkering with computers. |

i really think these kind of things are simply collector items. in the end the target public likes or has been convinced to like expensive useless stuff.Last edited by wawa on 26-Sep-2015 at 10:57 PM.

Please do not use my words to forward your agenda.
I think this board was designed simply to demo and test the Xena/Xorro slot.
The mistake was selling it to me as a proto board. Had they used 2 ISA slots or a PCI slot for Xorro then proto boards are available for less than $20, but since nobody makes x8 proto boards, and the available x1 boards cost over $400 due to the necessary serdes interface it rather limits hobby status for Xena.
Why they did not come to the community before going into production,,,,,, I flat out do not understand.
I have a project in mind. I have purchased most of the components but nobody would ever go through with what needs to be done to bring this project to fruition on either Nemo or what ever comes next.
It all boils down to a proto board, hopefully with some type of interface into the PCIe x1 portion of the combined slot.
Well, after waiting, soon to be, three years for a PCIe serial port I have no reason to think that hardware is of any importance to our suppliers.
Enough bitching, errors have been made. Fix them._________________ Tinkering with computers. |

REALLY interested to see the price. If it's X1000 price and they really did a run of 500 boards then A-Eon wont be around for long. _________________
