@Rob

if I remember the old "Gorky 17" announcement from 2003 I read recently it was for a port to "AmigaOS" so i assume it is not bound to hardware but running to AmigaOS PPC. So it is not relevant here how the computers are called. But we all do not know the contract.

btw. inspired by this drama, i just dug out my copy of the game and installed on my win8 machine. its really simplistic with its plot, fights and puzzles, i simply walked straight through the first initial environments. but i gues it contains some inventions as for 1999 release. a bit between baldurs gate and resident evil. ;)

That's not an Amiga.

Well it's a Sam. Perhaps calling it an AmigaOS machine would be more consistent in this context. It's just when I read Amiga by itself I think it is an Amiga, exclusively. Or IOW a real Amiga.

I also realise have the confusing position of using and supporting both platforms. Well in my case Amiga and AmigaOne. Think we need some model numbers here.

Seems that there is a dispute on the game title and that Hyperionn might need to negotiate a deal with TopWare Interactive AG.

In that case all they need to do is get it published by Team 17, make the game about East 17, and called it Dorky 17!

@thread

Seems they have retracted any questions about rights and are now talking about asking Hyperion to do a port to Mac. Tempest in a teapot.

Quote:
Do you think it will be possible that Hyperion use the source code from the Linux version to create a new version of Gorky 17 for Mac? I know that they have some experience in the porting games to different platforms like Linux, Mac, Amiga.

@Hypex

A game based on East 17?

In Dorkey 17 you take control of the other band members as they attempt to stop Brian Harvey from running over himself with his own car.

@Gorky 17 developers (AmigaOS version)

There are some questions on Hyperion's forum regarding Gorky 17 but I think that here they can be answered more quickly.

1) Was there any restriction in licence agreement concerning language/localization of the game?
The game was created by polish team and has full polish localization (text and speech). The AmigaOS version is without polish language. I would like to know is it the licence agreement problem or development problem that stopped you from adding this language?

2) Linux PPC version made by Hyperion requires only 603e CPU. PC version also needs only 233 MHz CPU. For the Amiga version release, which was planned originally in 2004, most probably 603e/604e CPU would be sufficient also.
The upcoming AmigaOS version has artificially inflated requirements to 500 MHz CPU making it impossible to play by Classic Amiga users.
Is it possible and/or planned to add version without enhancement eg. with original (not hi-res) graphic for Classic Amiga users?
http://www.hyperion-entertainment.biz/index.php/games/gorky-17?start=1
Technical Requirements - Linux Version
PII 233+ (x86) or 266 Mhz 603e/604e/G3/G4 (PPC)
64 MB of memory

3) And last but not least:
It appears that you no longer have rights to release the title for AmigaOS.
"If Hyperion wants to release any Gorky 17 title, they need to have an agreement with TopWare Interactive AG (because we own the trademark and all rights to the game title)"
http://steamcommunity.com/app/253920/discussions/0/520518053453566327/#c483366528920137521
"Hyperion: I contacted them and we are in negotiations."
http://steamcommunity.com/app/253920/discussions/0/520518053453566327/#c483366528923895209
"we speak with them. To be exact with their Lawyer at the moment. First of all we need to find a solution for their AmigaOS version"
http://steamcommunity.com/app/253920/discussions/0/520518053453566327/#c483366528924148705

So it means the game will be even more expensive because now we have to cover the cost of new licence with TopWare?!

I think they want to be on the safe side. I asked about WinUAE/OS4 functionality and was told they will try to lower requirements.

No, it appears someone claims Hyperion doesn´t have rights. However, same person was not aware of prior Linux port... so better wait until they reach some settlement.

@Rob

Yes.

Back in the day I wonderd about the odd 17. I sort of liked their stuff but also thought it wasn't the best quality dance music. The percussion sounded dirty. At the the same I hoped they were using Amigas to create and imagined that they got their name from being inspired by the Team 17 games they all played together. At the the time they formed the band. I mean outfit. Outfit because there wasn't proof they played anything like actual musicans.

Great news to see more software being released for Amiga computers.

Are there any screenshots of the game engine running?

Q!

Depends how you look it. Shogo was ported years ago and AFAIK there was never an OS4 update. Of course that hardly helps new sales but that would have been good for people who have/bought it to use with OS4. And a new OS4 edition could have been made to sell.

@Hypex

If you listen to the podcast q/a from Neuss, you'll learn that Gorky 17 is in Costel's words "test case" to see what might follow in the way of ports.
