The images has 3 partitions.
You would normally copy to the begining of USB device eg /dev/sdd.
In your case it looks like you have copied to the second partition /dev/sdd2 .

Right you are! As I posted somewhere else (Hyperion Linux Only?) I redid the thumbdrive and read the instructions more carefully, ending up with a more or less usable 16.04, about as good as my February hard drive installation.

I'm way too old to spend time using the thumb drive version although I will keep it around for emergencies. I have to find a way to get a really good version installed on my hard drive.

@kilaueabart

Gparted has a good copy and paste partition function .
you can copy from the /dev/sdd2 partition to a partition on your harddrive.
use the unmount option in Gparted on both partitions before the copy and paste.

Hi All,

I successfully tested Julian's latest image of ubuntu MATE 16.04 final beta PowerPC for the AmigaONE X1000 with Radeon HD Northern Islands graphics cards today.

I was able to boot ubuntu MATE 16.04 final beta PowerPC with the kernel 4.6-rc1 from my 64GB USB flash drive. It works fantastic with my AMD Radeon HD6870.

Screenshot:

Please test Julian's images.

Cheers,

Christian

Since tlosm is talking about this special build for X5000 which will give a major performance boost for it (40%). Will that gain made by just switching compile flags or is there major changes in code. And most important, are those changes going upstream?

@tonyw

Now someone mentions it! Yes I know about RawDisk but no one else seems to know about it when all you read are Linux and Windows instructions. Evem Mac people are left out.

@Spectre660

Does it work from the GUI? I always seem to have trouble.

Hi All,

I uploaded a ubuntu MATE 16.04.1 Live DVD ISO for testing yesterday.

Download: ubuntu-mate-16.04.1-desktop-powerpc-x1000.iso

I am not sure if all graphics cards work with the fbdev driver. We need some test results from SI and NI users.

You can boot the ISO with the following commands:

Quote:
CFE> ramdisk -addr=0x24000000 -fs=iso atapi0.1:casper/powerpc64/initrd.

Quote:
CFE> setenv bootargs "root=/dev/ramdisk file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu-mate.seed boot=casper quiet ro splash --"

Quote:
CFE> boot -elf -noints -fs=iso atapi0.1:casper/powerpc64/vmlinux.

I have written a thread about our Live DVD creating experiences: forum.hyperion-entertainment.biz

Please test it. I'd like to know if it boots.

Cheers,

Christian
