actually you could also try aorg, a1k or any other amiga sites to get different answers. as i see os4 has struggled to catch up and get past morphos in the poll ;). some really motivated souls have been voting their fingers wound, yet none in his right mind will believe there are more than hunderd active posters left in here, right?

@outrun1978

you mean the slow hardware platform anything X86 related runs circles around?`

It is a "NG" related forum and most users are MorphOS or AmigaOS user. Results are hardly surprising.

"The Amiga system with more future"...

Can someone explain..?
* MorphOS running on PPC board

The only OS in the history that is depending on, old second hand "alien" hardware!
Mac PPC:s from eBay etc. Is that the future?

@Nicsoft

MorphOS is announced to have a ISA change but there is no option in the poll. So I assume that people selected it but meant in reality MorphOS after ISA change.

AmigaOS on PPC is hardly future either when you look at the benchmarks and compare it to cheap standard hardware

Except, as pointed out by wawa, anyone can vote multiple times. You don't even need to be logged in. So nothing meaningful can be deduced from the results of the poll -- it's just another opportunity to rehash the same old stuff.

I do like the name of the poll, though. It sounds like an advert. "Amiga, now with 30 percent more future."

Last time OS4 hardware was competitive to mainstream world was in 2002, two years before said OS release...

I tried MorphOS on my Sam460ex. Sad to say it but, useless until this (below) is fixed!

- Radeon HD2400/HD3450 (no 2D/3D acceleration)
- Radeon HD4350/HD4550/HD4650 (no 2D/3D acceleration)
- Radeon HD5450 (no 2D/3D acceleration)
- Radeon HD6450/HD6570/HD7570 (no 2D/3D acceleration)

Without drivers, the OS is not an option really (at least for now)...

@Nicsoft

But your argument that MorphOS is depending on, old second hand Apple hardware is rather faulty. That's why we commented even though you cannot run it with full accelleration on later HD cards yet.

Apart from that statement, it do work on a lot more platforms than only Apple HW aswell.

@Develin

"..rather faulty." - But when will there be Radeon drivers then? Soon or?
In my opinion (at least) MorphOS is a Mac HW -dependant OS, for the moment...

Rather, that hardware is without AmigaOS. The only reason why the Cyrus/X5000 is not sold yet is the fact that OS4 is not finished for this board.

Exactly same reason why MorphOS/x86 is not yet available ;)

@itix

X1000 - discontinued (true)
Sam460ex - discontinued (true)
Sam460cr - available, I can buy one tomorrow (if I would like to...)
X5000 - around the corner (betatesting coming to an end)
Tabor - next year (betatesting about to start)

But there haven't been a shortcoming of OS 4 hardware til this day, really..!
