I can only strongly recommend to use the latest "nightly" build of YAM v2.10 dev - AmigaOS3.
You should download and install the latest build on the first day of each new month (it rather is a 'monthly' build than a 'nightly').
This version of YAM has inbuilt TLS 1.0 (SSL-successor) and by that is the only classic Amiga mailer I know of that is capable of accessing my e-mails at t-online.de, because they switched to "secure e-mail" back in 2014.
Since then all other classic Amiga mailers refused to connect to my e-mail-account.Last edited by Dandy on 19-Aug-2016 at 10:41 AM.

Hummm - the problem with all the other Amiga mailers is that they don't work at all with e-mail accounts that require the SSL-successor 'TLS'.
Downloading the latest archive on the first day of every new month, extracting it and replacing the old YAM-file with the new one is not exactly what I'd call a 'problem'
Not being able at all to access my mails is more of a problem for me.

I am using these 'nightly' builds since last March and did not encounter "new bugs cropping up and causing problems" so far. YAM v2.10 dev already seems to be quite matured and stable.

Nobody just wants "to get an email client up and running" as an end in itself. Most (if not all) want to access and send mails with it. And for this the 'nightly' builds of 'YAM 2.10 dev' currently seem to be the only option on an classic Amiga, when the ISP requires 'secure e-mail'.

OS3.1 and older versions is the better option. upgrading and tweaking can be done later on a copy of a known working version.

As 'YAM 2.10 dev' actually IS the ONLY "known working version" for 'secure e-mail'-access, your statement does not make much sense..._________________ Ciao

Is this the case for OS4 and MorphOS as well? My email recently switched to secure only and I have had to use web-mail which I don't like. I have both OS4 and MorphOS, but I have not tried the nightly build route. I will give it a try soon and see what happens. |

Is SimpleMail working with secure connections on OS4 and MorphOS? It has been a while since I have tried it, at the time it was missing some things like glossary for instance. However if it works that would be better then nothing for sure.

No.
Basically I'm happy with YAM since ages. just that my provider switched to 'secure e-mail' and the old version stopped working.
Now with the new developer version everything works fine again and the monthly updating process is not soo annoying.
And I think one day the dev version will be replaced with a stable release..._________________ Ciao

I can't tell you, as I only use OS 3.9.
I have an experimental OS 4.0 classic Installation, but as it does not support my hardware configuration sufficiently (just USB 1.1 instead of 2.0, just 10 mBit network transfer rate instead of 100 mBit, limited Mediator support, just to name a few...) I do not use it for serious tasks. Furthermore I would have buy OS 4.1FE for classic first, if I got it right.
I also once downloaded MOS for classic PPC Amigas, but it also does not support my hardware config properly - and so I refrained from installing it.

I'd say just try it. I also don't like other mailers than YAM... _________________ Ciao
