The slogan "Remember When Computing Was Fun," is a great slogan. It is what I want in the here and now.

Everyone's idea of fun is different, of course, but for me nothing currently comes close to the Raspberry Pi, although the Odroid-C2 may eclipse it. It's a lot like the "good old days" of Amiga, fooling around and getting it to do things that it was never intended to do.

@Tomppeli

Thats right. You know the Man in here is a Rock'n Roller too.

Greets for him and Thanks for great support!

Just looked from the guitar avatar as mine is also too much of the "Red Camp" - wouldn't care less.

Listen freely what You like, here playing drums..

So to the question Why no FE updates? I understood it was Final?

Move onwards Hopefully. It would be Great to hear an official publishment of 4,2 and All are very tired of this wait state mode. In this time while waiting for Trevor or some nice guy to inform something I'll go:

s/startup sequence:

LoadWB v.6.66

assign: all stuff

HD0:C/NoClick

endcli

The Workbench Operating System ("Workbench" being the proper name of the 68k OS for Amiga computers that today erroneously are referred to as "AmigaOS 3.x"

Here we go again.

You are of course correct -- I was there, and Workbench is what we called the OS, to the extent that any of use even new what an OS was back then. At least none of the people I was with knew, and even Byte magazine was a bit vague on it, at least as far as the Amiga was concerned.

Hindsight being 20-20, though, it might have been more accurate to call Kickstart the OS, since Kickstart contains Amiga EXEC, AmigaDOS, and even Amiga Intuition. It was (is) in fact far more than the "boot routine" code normally associated with Kickstart.

@bison

If we say that the OS is Exec+DOS+Intuition then can we also say that OS4 isn't the same OS but a rewrite just like MorphOS and AROS?

@IntuitionAmiga

ExecSG is a rewrite, at the least.

Well if you want to modernize software (and OS4 is heavily modernized under the hood) you have to rewrite the code, so what exactly is your point here?

Apparently the only 68K Commodore code that exists in 4.1 FE is RexxMast, so yes it's fair to say it's a rewrite now imho.

@danwood

But MorphOS and AROS aren't rewrites. They are reverse enginering from scratch. So it's not the same.
