c'mon, there so many PPC here to test

I'm okay for testing but I have to say that I don't know where all that goes. There are many results but with heterogeneous contexts. And about benchmarks, when we want to get conclusions, it is necessary to explicit first what is the goal: compare 2 operating systems on the same board, compare two boards, ... and even that is not enough.

As the topic is "general benchmark", maybe the goal is just to see how various machine behave with what are called typical use cases (lame, blender, mplayer, ...).

you can considere like this.
For x1000 could be interestint to see his performances on OS4 and Linux also for future OS develpment (smp, 3D, ecc)

If so, why does it say MacOS X in the lower-right corner?

Because the left corner is the X5000 (apparently runing OS4) and the right corner is the quad g5 running MacOSX. Or at least that is what I understand

@recedent, tlosm, Seiya

Sorry to ruin your benchmark contest, but I hope you know different Quake ports give different results even on the very same hardware...

@thread

While I appreciate the attempt to level the playing field, maybe just for a realistic comparison we ought to post benchmarks like Blender under Ubuntu Mate as well as under Amigoid OS'.
It would give us an idea how much we are missing by not having SMP.

@iggy

Again, different Blender versions give different (by degree of 100 %) results. You may run Blender benchmarks on Linux with one thread only to see single core performance.

To illustrate my point about Quake:

Same hardware (Pegasos 2 G4), 640x480, timedemo demo1

OS4.1: 50 FPS
MorphOS 2.3: 59 FPS

Quake versions are the same as used by tlosm and recedent.

@pavlor

I understand you point of view On Morphos X5000 the same quake version did less than 120 fps if i remember good.
Is not an Os fight, it is just for have a little comparisons from cpus power.
what i understand when the hardware advantage of cyrus is used the performances are really increased compared the quad g5.
and i can say for sure we are watching less than 50% of the real machine power because kernel and components need to be fixed better this is on linux PPC.
Nxp, alex perez and darren are really working hard to find the way for have the machine running at 100% of it possibilities
