@all What surprised me the most is the absence of anything related to the Xeno/Xena/Xorro stuff. At the beginning of the project we were told that the Cyrus + got an updated version but now nothing whatsoever. ...

Mate, I fully agree with you on this!
There had also been talk about implementing the access to the "Xena/Xorro stuff" in OS 4.x. and to port the XMos tools to AmigaOS so users can start to code for it natively in OS 4.x. ...
So - what became of it?
First (in the pre-X1000 era) they made our mouths water with that "Xena/Xorro stuff" and then nothing but silence about it?
I guess it's about time to unveil the plans regarding the "Xena/Xorro stuff" to your audience/potential A1X5k customers!
C'mon! Finally put your cards regarding the "Xena/Xorro stuff" on the table!_________________ Ciao

I do not know if others have interest in xena/xorro but after waiting 4 years for a proper xorro slot card that would allow development of some hardware to put xena to use I gave up. Had they used a PCI, or even dual ISA, slots for xorro things would have been different.
There are some limiting factors in how much could be done with xena on the x1000, and hopefully they have been addressed on the x5000, but it still could have been used. Anyway, I have moved along and wish luck to those that might take an interest. _________________ Tinkering with computers. |

That small chip is the ethernet PHY. The ethernet MAC (controller) sits inside the CPU in this case. So to your original question: No, having support for the X5000 ethernet won't help with the X1000. _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Sometimes I don't even know what people mean. |
