@zipper

It's screwed up alright. Plus there's not many mods left to sort this sort of thing out! I can't see this site surviving without a revamp and refresh....

I still have problems today.

Probably name of topic need to be changed, so admins will notice ?

But yeah, aw.net seems on its own, and not mantained anymore. News ddn't appears in weeks after submiting, no one fix website bugs, not one worry to somehow do with it something. Probably soon it just will be dead, sadly.

Well that is set manually unfortunately, and nobody had adjusted it. I will have a look in a moment and fix it.

Thanks. That looks better. The connection problems continue however. I've tried to look at AmigaWorld 3 times today and it hasn't connected until now!

@BigD

You could do the work around of adding the amigaworld.net IP directly to your hosts file.

I did that here yesterday because getting redirected to localhost every once in a while when accessing the site got too annoying.

@salass00

It's ok. I'll just use Amiga.org when AmigaWorld.net plays up! The problem is that's 90% of the time at the moment

Ok, I cracked and edited the host file! What a carry on! It feels like putting 'band-aids' over this creaking technology hosting this site! First the IP blacklisted problem over Christmas and now this

I don't know enough about the underlying web tech that is messing up access to Amigaworld but you need the patience of a saint to stay interested in this forum

Works flawlessly at home now. Thanks for your suggestion.

@thread

The main domains now seem to be working.

amigaworld.net and www.amigaworld.net are back,

but the iRC ones are now completely gone!

@broadblues

Same for my Friday night. irc.amigaworld.net appears deader than a doornail.

@amigasociety

I noticed this when it happened, and asked around, but nobody has owned up to making changes to the DNS hosting (which was obviously done, because it's with another registrar now than it was previously).

irc.amigaworld.net does still work, however se/fr/de and so on are all missing from the DNS, and at one point during the transfer some A records were indeed pointing at 127.0.0.1

We've also lost the ability to make direct changes to the DNS ourselves and are missing quite a few internal DNS names that we used for testing purposes.

The good news is however that the DNS hosting is far more stable now than it was, because previously we were hosting the DNS directly on the server itself, which sometimes as Kolla pointed out, put is in the odd situation of disappearing records when we had issues with the server or its networking...
