@Tuxedo

Full screen videos on a Sam460/Amigaone500 without any problems. DVD playback is so much better than Mplayer and DVplayer. I'd definately splash the cash

DVD Playback is not possible.

Fullscreen doesn't mean anything since you can 640x480 video un fullscreen.

On X1000, max res video playong is 1280x720.

DVD playback is possible, however you can't play any DVD's which are Macrovision copy protected.

Yes indeed. Actually you can play VOB files but not the DVD directly.

@imagodespira

Is it normal that on Sam440 and Pegasos 2, the about window shows "YUV" and not PIP ?

We will check it, should be PIP if you have a Radeon 9xxx installed.

@imagodespira

Where to send crashlogs ?

I just tested to play a video not completely downloaded (file corrupted but readable).

On the same video, MPlayer loops and is "CTRL-breakable"

Emotion issues a first DSI and after a while another Emotion Process is crashing.

Do you think that it's possible to jump the failing frames ?

first crash :

second crash

Purchased and working really well on my AmigaOne X5000 will test on my AmigaOne X1000 next then my (opps can't talk about that )

Keeps the timing of sound video to really well and the simple interface is a joy to use. As a first release it is really good, well done.

TrevorD

Update: Also works well on my AmigaOne X1000

I am pleased to confirm you can now buy Emotion and other apps on AMIStore with a credit card as an alternative payment method to Paypal. I hope this helps some users who prefer this method.

@imagodespira

REALLY nice and nice to use but...on My Pergasos2 G4@1131/ Radeon9000pro it was about 20% slower than mplayer so I'm tempted to buy it to support development but a bit confused...

@Sam/x1000/5000 users:

it was faster or slower than mplayer?

Too bad there is no internal benchmark like with mplayer (at least I didn´t find one such in Emotion). Without exact numbers, you will not know if video decoding is faster, but video display slows this down.

@pavlor

There also will be no benchmark in future. We are focusing on needid functions and building a benchmark tool also would spend some hours of work, we simply can not afford.

With Emotion we have now a good base and will try to improve it from time to time. We also hope that you understand that Emotion (in his first version, coded from one guy in many month for a small hand of Euros ;)) can not perform in all disciplines better than a well maintained multiple developer tool like mplayer.

We try our best, but our main focus is to get a clean, simple Video Player for daily use, including a AmigaOS GUI (or have any buttons at all). In future, we also want to make more Software, which are not simply ports from open source projects, to get unique AmigaOS software.

Here a short video running some Tabor things, also Emotion:

@imagodespira

The comments above about 720p being the limit for X1000 is a little misleading.
Big Buck Bunny 1080p runs perfectly on my X1000.
So it has more to do with the video encoding rather than the resolution.

@TargExplorer

Right! Differend codecs (and compression) needs different CPU power. DivX performs very well but has a bigger file size, while .mp4 often is to slow for us (but often used today)
