Yeah, I already thought about that too after a PegasosII was temporarily offered to me to fix some Linux problems, but then got lost on shipping. But PegasosII are hard to find nowadays. |
On the other hand Pegasos 1 systems are very cheap and can be easily found. IMO They can still be used as Linux based PPC systems for simple tasks or developing. But they are not supported by new PPC Linux distros anymore. Perhaps an even worse situation compared to Peg 2 PPC Linux support which can be manualy generated.
I am in for a Peg1 Linux project._________________ Peg1, Peg2, Efika, Amiga 500, Amiga 1230, Amiga 4000PPC, Sam 440EP, AmigaOne XE, MacMini PPC, PowerMac G4, G5 |

Yes, that's what I use my A1SE for. It's a good build machine for the Linux kernel. Actually that's the case for all A1s under Linux due to the missing graphics hardware acceleration.

Really!? I would have thought that it is still supported by Debian Jessie. For the Peg 2 there are a minor issues in the kernel and in the installer as far as I know, which could be fixed with medium effort. But I have no idea what issues are pleaguing the Peg 1 under Linux. Did you try to install Debian Jessie on a Peg 1?

Well, I'm not sure, if I would buy a Peg 1, given that I already have an A1SE as build machine. The Peg 2 on the other side would actually be a "usable" machine, because of the working graphics hardware acceleration._________________ A1SE: G3@600MHz, 2GB, 1GBit network card A1XE: G4@933MHz, 2GB, refitted AC'97 codec microA1: G3@800MHz, 1GB

So the installer uses its own specific init script. |
Yes. Just a matter of finding another one inside that can help.

True, but the thread over at a1k.org is in German and quite long too. |
I see. Well checked the link. Only saw one post and looks useful.

Typical. Suppose the problems won't be fixed now.Last edited by Hypex on 19-May-2017 at 06:08 PM.

Unfortunately not. Remote debugging some of the issues would be an option, but then a Peg2 user has to grant remote access to his machine._________________ A1SE: G3@600MHz, 2GB, 1GBit network card A1XE: G4@933MHz, 2GB, refitted AC'97 codec microA1: G3@800MHz, 1GB
