@wawa

Often we disagree, but I'm seriously with you on this one, dicussing why a company not involved with no rights and no interestd doesn't all of a sudden release an update to a product it no longers sells is crazy even for this place!

The objetive is if there is a mouse pointer patch to use pointers of 256 colours or why not like AmigaOS4 and MorphOS.

I think that still they can earn money with Amiga, with their AmigaOS, StormC , etc.perhaps they need to know the people interest for their work, I shall buy a new Amiga OS for 68k.

H&P have no rights to Amiga OS or any of the 3.9 additions which all remeained property of the original developers.

They sold the remaining inventory of their software to Alinea quite some time ago. In more recent years Alinea released StormC5ED for OS4.x. You can stillby StormC4 from their webstore if you need it.

thats a different question. ;)
id say, use aros in your uae instead, but just checked and there seems to be a bug reading png pointer image on 68k. on particular the alpha canal. must be an endian issue. will be looking into this.

edit: no, i was wrong. just checked under fs-uae. it is working alright. code looks correct too. so if there is any issue maybe winuae pixel format was wrong. you can use it.

A new Ibrowse version is based on posts on developer web page, not wishful thinking http://www.ibrowse-dev.net/faq.php#Q1

thats nice, but if it doesnt even support css it will be of limited practical value. a collectible perhaps.
ive retested aros owb on my a4000 few days ago. and it was slow but not unusably slow. google loaded correctly in a few seconds (javascript disabled, thats given). it is based on nine years old version of webkit, but its still more up to date than ibrowse. given that some further devs join in and aros can be improved for general usage on amiga, it may become a valid alternative.

@wawa

Sure

Altho my whole point was the distinction between vapour/dreamware and software activly being developed.

Is there someone good patch to use mouse pointers of 256 or more colours?

Do you mean on an RTG card? For that amount of colours I think it would need a 24-bit framebuffer. 256 colours would fit in a 16x16 block. Any bigger, such 32x32, would need a true color sprite as 1024 colours can fit in that space.

On Amiga hardware, an OS limitation locked the pointer down to four colours (-1) AFAIK. Even though it would be possible to have a 16 colour (-1) sprite. I don't know of any patches. In theory a copperlist could provide more colours. But a moving pointer would be too fast to manage and catch up to I think.

Depends on what type of agreement Haage&Partner had with Amiga Inc.?

Most likely something of the same quality that Hyperion and Cloanto have.

So noone would be able to stop them from distributing AmigaOS3.9.5 and if they are smart they would invest heavily into the popcorm industry right before going public with that plan.
