yes. this is for sure.
I buy it first for use amigaos but linuxppc was for me the way for use the machine in productive mode and for use the unused features that are available only on linux ... smp more than 2 gb of ram use of extra boards ... but i understand for this is better continue use the old good g5 quad.

i think many users will buy it only for OS4/MOS.
For any other OS it is too exxxxxxxpensive
If you want to use Linux, you won't use PPC

Why not? PPC is a processor like another... It depends from the situations of use you could experience that then drive you choose the more appropriate processor for that purpose. The operating system is a choice of consequence, after you choosen the hardware architecture.

Is this default setting? Seems to be really high number. If this can be set to eg. 32 kB, is dnetc still so fast then?

dont see difference in dnetc results with 32kb or 8MB cache ... im making experiments and many test inside qemu sources for see what can make better performances.

I'm not sure I get any of this.
What cpu does Qemu think its running?

And if we can change things around, why not specify 970 cpus?
We'd gain AltiVec.

In any case, is this emulation actually emulating a P5020?

@Beans

It is my macbook pro i7 (2012) emulating an e5500 nxp on a mcp85xxx.

The altivec is available only in pseries (power machines) or in macs hardware .
this machines are not compatibles with AmigaOS

Such result is impressive (assuming it is not fine-tuned for one benchmark). Well done!

MCP85XX, PowerQuic III? That's 32 bit e500, isn't it?
Its not an e5500 core.

So how do you emulate a 64 bit e5500 core by using a 32 bit Soc?

Interesting, so you used the MPC85XX Soc as a model and swapped in an e5500 core?

Neat stuff.
Looking at what can be done with Qemu, this could be the bridge to another ISA.

Running the legacy PPC code via Qemu, newer stuff natively, some of it might even be able to be hybridized, system calls serviced by the new ISA, legacy code run under Qemu (rather like we are already doing with 68K JIT emulation).

Definitely worth working at.

yes it can. example i have in kvm-pr the power6/7/8/9 on G5 or G4/G3/60x the cool is in x86 machine or powe8/9 with linux because can made the passthru .
It mean you will have emulated powerpc with real radeon gpu working on it like is a real machine and not emulated. in past this things was did on emulators for mac like was softwindows that use a real voodoo was their gpu.

example this is vpc 3 on a 450mhz g4 emulating a pc but using a real 3dfxvideo
or softwindos (better) video

Too bad your optimalizations aren´t available for WinUAE/QEMU plugin. That would bring us fast OS4 on x86 right now.
