Depends on seller and model, I suppose. Nevertheless I think "from-the-beginning" supported PPC systems came with AmigaOS pre-installed. So did my ACube Sam440ep and my A-Eon AmigaOne X1000.
[My BPlan Pegasos II of course ...as well... - it was a used system and it's former owner had installed it.]_________________ X1000|II/G4|440ep|2000/060|2000/040|1000 |

I can only comment on my own experience.
Many years ago, I purchased one of the last few Eyetech MicroA1 motherboards available in Canada from a distributor called Livewire. It was sold as a bundle, the motherboard arrived with a copy of AmigaOS 4.0 Pre-release on a CD-R disc. I assembled my own system and installed the OS myself. After some inquiries, I finally received my official AmigaOS 4.0 Pre-release CD a few months later.
From day one, I have run AmigaOS4 on this system. Never used Linux.
Since then, I have purchased AmigaOS 4.1 and AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition.
There have been many free updates, including AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition Update 1.

From July 23, 2007:
Section 8 does mention the price A difference is pointed out depending on direct sale vs promotion campaign with Eyetech. Basically 95 vs 55 euros.

| Back to the original topic, I am not interested in paying any sort of subscription fees. Been there, done that.
I would rather continue paying for major releases, as we do now, and perhaps a small reasonable fee for meaningful updates in between the major releases. And, I mean meaningful updates, not bugfixes or updates for out of date parts accidently released from an older distribution.
Of course, I would actually like to receive the actual bugfixes to known issues. I am not really satisfied with hearing that something is fixed if the average user never receives the fix.

All right, very very rough estimate. Best case scenario estimate.
Let's say Hyperion sold a couple thousands copies of 4.0 at around 50 euro each, let's double that for 4.1, say 4 thousands copies - but the price was around 30 euro if I am not mistaken. Then let's go back to 2 thousands for 4.1 final, always at 30 euro. That would make for less than 300k euro so let's say I have been conservative and assume it was 50 percent more. Let's say the cleared around half million dollars in salaes since they began this business. Now, at least a hundred k of that should have gone in development fees.
Unless I am missing some big source of revenue, it is safe to assume that they must have cleared less than half million dollars in a decade of selling amigaos.
Reasonable?

They seem to think so or why fight Cloanto in the courts? Businesses are about money so they must view defending trademarks relating to AmigaOS as having value enough to waste a large proportion of the other 400k (assumed turnover from AmigaOS after development fees subtracted) on legal fees! First Amiga Inc and now Cloanto. You have to ask;
Are they a software developer or a legal firm?_________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

I suppose, but it's closer to a decade and a half.
