Got my copy when Colanto contacted me via email about the sale price. I must have about 5 different versions of AmigaForever now, if not more, but I had not bought an update for several years and wanted to see what improvements they have made. I have always been a strong supporter of AmigaForever, no matter what criticism has been thrown at it from some people.

I think Colanto has helped keep a lot of people interested in the Amiga, who gave up their original Amiga computers many years ago when it became necessary for them to own a Windows PC so they could have better compatibility with the computers they used at work or school.

I know that experienced Amiga users can use the free versions of WinUAE and/or E-UAE and rip their Kickstart ROM's from the original Amiga computers that they still own to provide themselves with an experience similar to what is available with AmigaForever, but for a lot of former Amiga users that don't want to bother, or can't figure out how to rip Kickstart ROM's and setup WinUAE, and more importantly, for curious people that were never Amiga users at any time in the past, AmigaForever is a valuable tool.

Think this is my 3rd buy.

I also got Amikit installed with it, and gave a donation to encourage Jan Zahurancik
to update it etc.

Even if he never updated it again, I think it was still worth a donation.

This would be my fifth version I buy since I like this solution a lot =)
I think it's kinda sad that KX Light havn't got any updates in a while.
Tried to install the one included on the DVD inside Virtualbox now but that didn't work to good sadly =(

I'm curious as to why you would need or want this product, when you can get WinUAE or UAE to run older Amiga programs - for free. Can someone fill me in?

For one it comes with all of the Amiga Roms, 1.3 to 3.1. It also comes with preinstsalled Workbench versions, GAmes, and Demos. Amiga Forever has a great interface that launches all of it's pre-installed Games, Demos, and Workbench versions. Plus it will download and install AmigaSYS, AmiKIt, And AROS. THe GUI will autoupdate Amiga Forever and UAE components. And ofcourse you can add games and demos easily to the GUI including and UAE setting and much, much more.

You can always download the kickstart if you already own the said kickstart rom.
This goes under fair use in most countries afaik.

But I agree otherwise.

So, if I have an older version of AF (~2002 version) with legal versions of KS ROMS, then all I would have to do would be download the latest WinUAE. Right?

I've bought it, but can anybody please tell me how much of Amiga Forever can be used on OS X? Roms, Workbench disks, unpack RP9 games + demos ...?

I've registered my email to be informed about a promised Mac version of Amiga Forever, but I don't know how long ago that was written. Is a Mac version likely?
