| Hello people!
Finally Amiga SAM 460 ex is working 99%
I have 4 basic questions before I proceed to other smaller questions that are not so important:
1) - Every time I boot Sam 460 ex to AmigaOS4.1 update 4 I have to wait boot sequence to stop and then type command
boota
How to avoid typing Boota every time I reboot or boot to OS4?
2) - How to set or or key on my nice flat usb PC keyboard to act as key? Currently I do not have RightAmigaKey in OS4that should to some basic operations like Cut, Copy and Paste...
3) - Since I installed Jack (excellent program, all praises to djRikki & his team for developing such a great utility), when Workbench screen shows, I got message
HollywoodPlayer Cannot write to file T:tmp000000 !
4) My Clock is not showing time well after reboot. When I set date and time and click save - it works all well until I turn off Amiga. Next day it shows time where it stopped [!!!????]
I remember it asked me where to save time I got some strange message I can not even remember now. It was something like "Do you want not to save time to your clock after reboot not"? I can't believe what I got asked and now I can not change where it saves time... I have no clue?
Sound working great. Gfx working great. Usb working great [when insert Usb splitter]...

Let me just say that if you do a nvgetvar command from cli in OS 4.1 the settings for the various bootable devices should look something like this .
boot1=usb boot2=s4siicdrom boot3=s4sii

How about setting up a remote server in Time preferences? I use gps.layer42.net, but you'll probably have to find one that relates to where you are. |

That's absurd, of course it has.
On the other hand, I can't think of why it wouldn't keep the time. Maybe it hasn't been "Saved" (ie "SetClock Save dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss".
U-Boot should have a command like "menuboot_cmd=boota" (IIRC).
Why not ask on the Hyperion support forum? That's the best place to get proper answers.

The battery is located below the PCI slot and is needed to keep the firmware settings.
@djnick
Acube or Amigakit should be able to advise you on the Uboot settings needed to make the Sam460 autoboot.
I think you may be able to set the Menu key as right Amiga in Uboot prefs. Otherwise try using a different map from input prefs.
Time problem sounds wierd. Do you mean that if you turn it off at 5PM the next time you boot it shows 5PM or does it default back to some time in 1978? |

What happened with your system? Must have missed the story but your basic NV vars are messed up.
But if you have a keyboard without a right "Logo" key try setting the kbddev_norwin NV var to 1 as follows from UBoot:
setenv kbddev_norwin 1 saveenv
AFAIK there is no other way to do it. If that is why you don't have Right Amiga. |

| Not sure about a SAM, but when I see that type of a clock issue the cause is typically a battery with too low voltage. Not enough juice to run the clock when the system is off.
I'd check the battery voltage. |

You can also do it in a DOS shell. Type: nvsetvar boot_method=boota You won't have to save it. It does it automatically.

Before you make any changes it may be a good idea to post your current Uboot setting here just in case something is messed up or gets messed up.
From OS4.1 cli type nvgetvar and post the results here before you start to change anything.

Okay.
This is when type from Shell: nvgetvar
baudrate=115200 loads_echo=1 hostname=Sam460ex stdout=vga stdin=usbkbd ide_doreset=on ide_reset_timeout=15 ide_cd_timeout=20 pcie_mode=RP:RP pciconfighost=1 menucmd=menu boot_method=boota usb_enable_4x0=1 usb_retry=1 usb_ohci_power_down_before_reset=1 scan_usb_storage=1 ethact=ppc_4xx_eth0 ethaddr=00:50:c2:80:d5:21 sam460ide_config=2 menuboot_cmd=boota ver=U-Boot 2010.06.05a (Jan 30 2012 - 16:06:56) video_activate=pci hush=0 serdes=pci - e ipaddr=192.168.2.50 serverip=192.168.2.222 boot1=s4sii boot2=s4sii boota_timeout=2 menuboot_delay=2 os4_commandline=debuglevel=0 bootargs=root=/dev/sda3 console=tty0
And this is when Amiga boots / DOS:
Config: PCIe 4x + PCIe 1x USB: scanning bus for devices... 5 USB Device(s) found scanning bus for storage... SATA Device 0: OK SATA Device 1: OK SATA Device 2: ......................* Timeout *
Model: ST3500320AS Firm: SD1A Ser#: 9QMA46CC Type: Hard Disk Supports 48-bit addressing Capacity: 476940.0 MB = 465.7 GB (976773168 x 512) Model: ATAPI Firm: ZL0F Ser#: iHAS122 Type: Removable CD ROM Capacity: not available not available not available ] boota
After this AmigaOS4 boots and during boot sound I got annoying message:
HollywoodPlayer Cannot write to file T:tmp000000 !
Ok, let me know what to do next :)
p.s. damn right Amiga key does not work so neither does not work Copy / Paste listings from Shell... so I had to re-type everything here... :( _________________ dj | my.www | my.deviantart | my.youtube | gfxriver |

baudrate=115200 loads_echo=1 hostname=Sam460ex stdout=vga stdin=usbkbd ide_doreset=on ide_reset_timeout=15 ide_cd_timeout=20 pcie_mode=RP:RP pciconfighost=1 bootcmd=menu; run menuboot_cmd menucmd=menu boot_method=boota usb_enable_4x0=1 usb_retry=1 usb_ohci_power_down_before_reset=1 ethact=ppc_4xx_eth0 ethaddr=00:50:C2:80:D4:C1 24sii_maxbus=1 serdes=sata2 ipaddr=192.168.2.50 serverip=192.168.2.222 s4sii_maxbus=1 scan_usb_storage=1 ddr2_boost=1 boot1=usb boot2=s4siicdrom boot3=s4sii boota_timeout=2 menuboot_delay=2 os4_commandline=debuglevel=0 bootargs=root=/dev/sda3 console=tty0 ver=U-Boot 2010.06.05 (Apr 14 2011 - 10:54:55) video_activate=pci hush=1 menuboot_cmd=boota sii3114ide_xfer=GGGG
Looking at yours I can see you have bootcmd=menu; run menuboot_cmd missing, maybe that's the one needed?
Also 24sii_maxbus=1 is missing! There may be some other different, missing or extra!

Great! Thank you a lot.
Well - what exactly to type? Open Shell and type some some command line... I will wait for comfirmation and which command.
Sorry for being scared this much... After 6 months of hard work ;) and when Amiga is working, I think I would die if it would not boot after some wrong type commands :)
Also I have another strange problem: I can see only 1st partition [SYS:]
The second one I can see only from MediaToolbox, when enter it and click Edit partitions:
I can see DH0: Automount and Bootable checked, Boot priority 0 and SFS/02 filesystem and can not see HD1: which is Automount checked only, but file system is JFX/04?
I guess I have to select another filesystem to make Work: visible???
SYS partition is 92GB while Work should be 372 GB... _________________ dj | my.www | my.deviantart | my.youtube | gfxriver |

I'm rather sure this is wrong. It should read "s4sii_maxbus". Typo?

Yep, this should be the usual boot var entries (for Sam systems at least, it's the same on my Sam440ep).Last edited by cha05e90 on 15-Jun-2012 at 08:55 PM. Last edited by cha05e90 on 15-Jun-2012 at 08:55 PM.

Yes, it is my typo. :)
Anyway - I have found this program to make Alt Gr [Right Alt?] key to work as RightAmigaKey:
NoMenyKey... [damn - copy / paste URL from MuiOWB does not work here].
But when unpack and start program - it works GREAT!
But if install into S:User-Startup and type
c:NoMenuKey >NIL:
and... loading WB stops on OS4 screen image.
So I had to remove command from early start up menu [or what was it called, 2 mouse buttons hold click]
Do you have any idea how to execute this program on WB StartUp? It does not have icon and dragging / dropping program to Commodities - has no effect. RightAmigaKey still does not work. And executing program blocks SHELL and only exit is CTRL+C.
I guess I should add icon... but how?
Sorry for lots of basic questions, but I was in Amiga looong time ago... almost forgot everything :) _________________ dj | my.www | my.deviantart | my.youtube | gfxriver |
