Hello all, I've been googling about trying to figure out how to make APDF display certain PDF files (I think 1.4 and up) without them looking like they were written in Russian. I even tried re-compiling it with the XPDF source modifications for some US-specific DRM-hell, and got a few more files to work. I vaguelly recall some setting somewhere to override font settings? Also remember there was a thread on one of the forums, just can't remember which one, and been a bit busy to go digging too much. Anybody know a quick fix? (My wife insists on printing websites to PDF and e-mailing them to me instead of just sending the flipping link, and I haven't found chrome settings that can fix it at her end).

I can give it a shot when I'm back at the mggy. I could rig up a script or something, possiby rig deficons to match the version # of the pdf as well.

@kvasir

Sounds like your PDFs may be using the UTF-8 or UTF-16 charset. A screenshot would be helpful but should it be a charset issue, perhaps chrome has a setting for that to use ISO-something instead?

Could try using a different PDF printer, might generate them in a friendlier way? I use PDF Creator on Win7.

@serk118

I'll take a look, though I have to let the 1200 cool off a bit. Left her on last night after deciding to take a break from one of my own programming projects, and fell asleep while watching a movie (I told my wife this recliner is way to comfortable sometime.. lol). Though I noticed the codesets.library on aminet was recently updated, and I think I still have APDF's source on the thing somewhere, might look into tweaking it a bit if thats the problem. Though my skill at programming (or lack thereof) would probably require a few gallons of coffee in such an attempt.. I'll have to see if the version of APDF I have on my netbooks UAE setup suffers the same (I think it does, as I remember trying it here once to see if I could just transfer that over), and I'll get a screenshot up on imgur or something.

edit:
