A-EON Technology delivers on its promises :)

Now the hardware side is almost done, software is being finalised for AmigaOS 3 and AmigaOS 4.

Great news. Looking good. I am glad that software is being written. I myself love reading the technical side of software. It would be good if the devs could write their design process for these new cards, videos, blogs, tutorials from start to finish brings more interest, more to learn, more to watch, learn.

Like a fly on the wall Amiga development series, for a monthly fee i would subscribe how the board was designed, how drivers written, problems, solutions how to write the software etc.

Its all so interesting, Hyperions blog has not been updated for a while, We need something to read, learn or the Amiga interest and knowledge will start to erode further than it is.

Open a bounty for Dave H, investigate and outline a high speed Amiga for today with chipset compatibility in hardware.

Surely 1000 USD bounty should be enough incentive ?

Read the corresponding thread on Amiga.org, and Novacoder posted a nice youtube;

As Amigakit noted;

Just a note- the music pause in SysInfo is not a bug, it is simply SysInfo disabling multitasking whilst it calculates MIPs.

Just incredible AmigaKit! Congratulations... I did not know about this board for some reason. Missed all the news about it.

A quick questions... can one compose modules using 16 bit audio with this card, or will it only be usable for hi definition audio replayability and mixing?

All the best with this...

PS. Who knows, would we ever see a Natami type AAA FPGA classic Amiga from A-EON in the future... seems possible with what is being shown regarding all this development Amiga side? ...I guess one can dream...

Q!

The Prisma is a music card, not a sound card - so it's not meant for module playing I'm afraid.
If you can render the module into a stream, though, you can play it back in full CD-quality audio on a standard Amiga!

Very nice work! good to see Mr Boehmer is still doing good work for the Amiga.

Almost tempted to pick up an A4K to try it out... but then I'd probably end up living in a computer workshop again with bits of Amiga on every shelf.

Best wishes for high sales volumes, and may this be the first of many such collaborative ventures.

But modules are music. So does that mean it's just like any old Amiga sound card in that it supports 16-bit with one stereo channel? As a base. Is that what a music card means?

In any case programs like OctaMED can still be used to play modules through it. Or should be able to. And whatever else can render a module to an AHI audio stream.

@thread

I hope the next project would be creating a new Classic Amiga 68k + AAA+ Amiga, with the help of one of the Original engineers at Commodore, Dr. Edward L. Hepler, creator of the Next Gen AAA/Hombre chipset for Amigas.

Dr Heplers 68k ASIC + AAA+ chipset would be awsome !

I see... that is rather sad then if a powerful DSP like this could not be used for composition purposes...

@amigakit

Congratulations to A-Eon and AmigaKit and others who have accomplished this.

But is it that Prisma Megamix card is only as decoder card, like a MAS Player clone? just wondering.

Yep it's a decoder card but it's very flexible and supports lots of different formats (compressed data).

Also don't forget that this card can be used in any Amiga that has a clock-port, it's not just for 'big box' Amiga's.

This card can also play PCM uncompressed audio which is where the possibility of developing an AHI driver fits in.

This is only based on my understanding of the card, AmigaKit will be able to provide more details.

@NovaCoder

That's about the size of it, yes.

It's a card for decoding audio streams into CD-quality audio - but can take just about any standard format at high bit-rates.
Any Amiga that can keep it fed with data will run the Prisma, that includes 68000 based Amigas. Obviously, the faster your Amiga, the more safeguard you have again there being pauses in the audio (in other words, if you run it on a slow Amiga, it'll multitask but if you load the CPU fully, obviously the music will pause - and it'll be easier to load the CPU if you have a slower CPU).

True, but it would require proper AHI drivers to make use of it, in the least use the DSP to mix channels and take it off the CPU.

Anyway to confirm what?

That OctaMED would work? If so then you'd need an AHI driver for the Prisma and TheMaestrix off Aminet. I think it's Aminet.

We are looking at developing a backplate for a desktop A1200 as a product option (to fit in the small trapdoor slot next to mouse port)
