AROS & ODROID, will it work?

Hey all,

I wanted to give AROS OS a shot, to see how good that software is. I was also checking out a very small computer called ODROID and was wondering if anyone has installed/used AROS on it? If you have, did you use the ODROID-U3 or the ODROID-XU3?

The other part of the AROS question I have here is - Which version would you download for an ODROID? And on top of that, how would you store the OS to boot the system?

Thanks.

Ed

In a couple of days you can download aeros from indiego appstore.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=IM7iRiozvaw

It is provided as sd-card image. I used u2/u3

@phoenixkonsole

Thanks for the link and info. This seems interesting too. I wasn't necessarily looking for a "Steam" like service for this computer but more of the AROS, not AEROS OS. This isn't necessarily a bad thing at all though. I did notice that the stretch goal II of 800 C hasn't been met, So since the campaign is over, how would I get the SD card? I won't mind spending roughly $30 for it, just not too crazy about the possible extended wait. But this seems like another good system to play around with. Also, does this work with Amiga files from the 68K era? Thanks.

Ed

Aeros is more or less aros. A free Version will be released next week. The Campaign was not promoted anymore. I used it to reach some companies to make behind hohe scene Deals. So all in all it was good. I am offering Discounts to aros developer and will Start bounties soon.

@phoenixkonsole

I actually made the plunge yesterday to get the ODROID-XU3 and picked the 64GB eMMC 5.0 X Module to use as OS/storage, along with the USB 3.0 to SATA3 HDD/SSD option. Will the free download work on the eMMC module or will I have to have a MicroSD OS option? I can use both, but I don't believe at the sametime. Could you also please link the site location for the download? Thanks.

So far only U2 and u3 are supported. Xu differs too much and so it is another Platform.
You can still use plain aros hosted. www.aros.org

@phoenixkonsole

Do you plan on supporting it then? Also, if I do choose to get "Plain" Aros, which download version is required for this type of computer? Thanks.

Ed

Probably the nightly build for linux-arm-system would work. (You'll need a Linux install first since it is hosted AROS.) You'll also want the contrib builds to have a few things to run on it also.

No worries, thanks for at least considering and working on it. I won't get the computer until the end of August anyhow, according to the website.

Hi,
I still have only a odrod u3 which is not compatible to xu3.
So you need to download the linux of your choice for the xu3.
Than you can download aros hosted for armhf from www.aros.org
If you unpack the archive you can got to the linux subfolder and run arosbootstrap
This will launch aros on top of linux.
