I hopep he used an AmigaOne or something. I used Audio Evolution to mix three tracks live and the experience was terrible even on an 060. But then again I didn't have a sound card, just rusty old Paula and AHI modes that don't work very well. :-=)

I doubt there are any mucians using AmigaOne, cause they are like me and think its not a real Amiga.

It's amazing how quickly almost any topic can turn into New vs Old. I happen to agree with you (and the fact that it is Paula that makes an Amiga sound like an Amiga, not the OS), but the best thing is just to give up and avoid those debates since, like religion, there aren't any real answers.

One technical question about this. Was the artist using his A1200 for driving a keyboard or was Paula essentially ending up on the track?

Probably the sounds comes from the keyboard, its a good thing to not stress the cpu. Paula for playback/record), like you would use whatever soundcard for the same thing. At least what i think. Im no expert. My hardware synthesizers (2 x virus TI and elektron machinedrum) is doing the DSP stuff so x1000 CPU can do other task like doing the finish (compressing, final EQ etc) in HD-REC. My ESI Juli@ for playback/record.

Anyway i like when ex amigans do mentation they used their amigas for project, specially releasing stuff :) Also the videoparts in videos that was shown on MTV back in the time.

Even the company MAGIX who sells Video and Audio software in a lot of stores started on Amiga with Samplitude.

Obvuously the AmigaOne isn't a real Amiga and after, all it is called an AmigaOne and not an Amiga.

But that is not the point. The point is it has power. It runs AmigaOS natively like an Amiga. And OctaMED works.

Having read through the interview it was an A1200 yes. Not much is said about how it was souped up. But even in 2007 using a fast A1200 would have bene hard to do.

That's because when I read about what he did I couldn't imagine anyone doing professional house music on an old A1200, even in 2007! That's a few years after the AmigaOne came out.

It does if you use it. But if you have a PCI soundcard your Amiga will sound like a PC. And here it looks like MIDI was used and not the Amiga sound. Amiga soundcards weren't that great, generallly you got one stereo channel of 16-bit sound. Twice the resolution of the Amuga and quarter the channels with greater sample rate wasn't exactly superior. Not for realtime mixing since it had none.
