Hello,

just want to know if the new Amiga OS FE sdk is on the way or will take a little longer.
Same question for the new Codebench version.

Any news?

@AmigaBlitter

Same question from me, although I doubt we'll ever hear anything else than the usual "When it's done" crap.

@Trixie

Having the new SDK aligned with the graphics library will be great, as well as the other enhancements.
An update version of the compiler will also be nice.

@AmigaBlitter

I don't hold out any hope for an updated compiler. I doubt the guys have had time for porting and properly testing a new GCC, such a task would be extremely time-consuming. But I'd like to see documentation and includes for the new Intuition features (such as the improved menu system, or the snapshotting feature of window.class) so that I can finally put them to use.

@Trixie
As far as i know, SBA works all the time on newer compilers (with some help from others), on adtools
http://sourceforge.net/p/adtools/code/HEAD/tree/branches/gcc/

If you need latest gcc , there is 4.7.x and 4.9.x versions. I do not test myself 4.9.x , but i use before crosscompiler version of 4.7.x which i build myself (so everyone can do if he really need new version of compiler).

Also all the recent mui/yam/mui-classes releases, builded with 4.9.x (you can find versions strings in the debug versions of those releases).

I ask SBA before if all that fancy new stuff like C11 and co works , but sadly can't find mail anymore, but if i remember right it all may works already , but need tests.

In other words, its all matter of put everything in archive , test and release. But those who want new compiler right now, can build it from adtools as do damato for mui/yam/classes, or as do i am for my own needs before.

Since November last year I am using a gcc 4.9.2 cross-compiler built from:

https://github.com/sba1/adtools

It is working well enough for me at least.

@salass00

Did you test C++11 stuff ? Is it works good enough if you did ?

@salass00

I wonder if it's possible to build a native compiler from it. Cross compiling can be a pain if you have to recompile the code often.

@BSzili

At least 4.7 (or 4.5) i build also as native version too (there is some readme which help with that, and once i was stuck i write mail to Sebastian and he help me out). So probably 4.9.2 possible too.

@kas1e

Superb, thanks for the info! I'll try to build them too, hopefully I can get some shelved projects... well, off the shelf.

@salass00

Meanwhile GCC 5.1 has been released with a lot of improvments and optimizations.

Good news about the compiler but frankly, I'm much more interested in the updated SDK and a new version of Codebench.

@Trixie

I agree with you. Of course an updated sdk reflecting the latest OS4 FE changes will be really good.

As for the compiler, well i would like to have the new version too :P

quote from the Amiwest 2015 news "Prerequisites for this year's event include downloading and installing the most recent SDK, to be available shortly, and having OS4.1 Final Edition installed and running on your Amiga to bring to the DevCon."
