| Hi ALL! As on topic I'm working on a new version of LoView. The goal was mainly to add finally a prefs MUI editor (thanks to MuiRoyale) and bug fixings so:
1 - plz to everyone sending me bug reports in the past feel free to write here if I dont solved your problems...in past 2 years I'm really busy IRL so not done much and something for sure was forgotten...
2 - feel free to ask anything you tought about LoView and possible features and/or things that you dont like! I' can think to it...
Thank you for any feedback you write! _________________ Simone"Tuxedo"Monsignori, Perugia, ITALY. |

First i used picshow, then went to loview and now on fastview. Whats next, back to loview. For features i dont know what to add but i hope users can give you ideas etc. My mind is to busy with stuff and much nonsense (noise) so i cant help with ideas for the moment.
Looking forward to see what you are cooking for next version :) |

Personally I left Picshow since it was not so stable(before that the nice Mysticview because it was discontinued and not fully AmigaOS4compliant if I remember correct) and fast, I than go on WarpView, but don't like the fesw options(it was really fast tought!) and sice don't found anything I like I decided to start working on LoView... I really miss something Alike CDsee on AmigaOS (I like toolbar and status bars) so dicede to try working something freely inspired to it, I dont remember how much I spent starting but at least 4 years...I tryed really much programming languages (from PoeerD to Portable to C) but really was boring programming on that languages for me...too much theory and low learning curve...than in 2009 I discovered Hollywood and felt in love with it! Fast learning curve(from Hollywood bought to first LoView version passed about 5 weeks!) and really powerfull! Unfortunately it lacks asyncrobous functions(usefull to pre load images for example) or code optimization but it support all Amiga platforms and its a great exchange I think...
Aftet that borned other image viewers(fortunately) on Amiga land but dont really like noone. hope that dont have bored noone too much...

LoView is a great program and I love using it on my X1000. I wrote a blog post about it some time ago.
http://amigax1000.blogspot.com.au/2012/06/how-to-change-default-picture-viewer.html
I would like it to be a bit more like Windows application called Irfanview in being able to selectively cut, crop, Add text and simple shapes (circles, etc for highlighting), and more photo effects, etc, if possible!
Oh, and an installation process to change the default viewer to LoView if desired so it doesn't need to be done manually as per my blog post!
Thanks for all the great work so far!

I don't remember if Loview had a thumbnails view. That would be really nice anyway. |

Thank you for reply and blog entry! I missed that also if its a 2012 post, weird... For the problems adding it as DefaultTool and some other bugs I discovered I'll look deeper in it after finishing with the Prefs Editor(hope 2/3 days), I'm considering also to put some sort or configuration autoinstall functions in the Prefs editor to check/control installation status, I'll look what I can se...
For the feature requests, I think I can do it with Hollywood rather easly but honestly dunno if had time now or in future since I've another project in mind after finishing with that LoView release...
-Only one question: what do you mean for selective cut? and crop?
-For the photo effects I added all the builtin-effects that Hollywood provides, so adding more effects was relational to new effects in Hollywood in future or some sort of ImageMagik integration(that was the thing I have in mind before Hollywood gets image fx), but at that state that wasnt so probable since LoView offers rather nice effects and my main focus on an ImageMagik integration was relative to Imagestitching but also there dunno If I've time sooner or later...
-I also like to convert whole program with the new MUI support, but dunno if it can be done since was a lot of work and I dont feel the need of it since the inbuilt GUI that I've entirely programmed was rather nice to me...more likely to gets LoViewThumb in MUI sooner that LoView but who lives will see ... IRL was really a complex thing today...

Thanks for taking a look at the install process to choose an option to add LoView as the default tool for image viewing under AmigaOS4 for supported photo file types.
Selective cut/crop means being able to use my mouse to draw a box around a section of the photo (adjust the box bigger and smaller if needed) and then click a button in LoView to crop the photo to remove everything outside the box I drew, leaving what is left inside the box as the photo (which I can then save). Selective cut allow me to take the contents of the selected box I draw on the photo to paste into another program.
MUI support would be fantastic as I want to be able to use the screen switching functionality to move loView between my dual display cards as needed.
I look forward to the new version!

thanks for improving LoView I personally like the thumbnail viewer in the current version but like Epsilon I'd love to see a quick and easy crop option available as it would come in handy

OK, I have to use it more. I really liked it. Is there a way to contribute to the development? A PayPal gift, I mean. |

I see what I can do after finishing editor as spoked above...a clipboard support will be likely easy to add, the cut option atm have a bug while cutting scaled images I'll look also on it...
@klx300r
Thank you for sharing opinion.
@Niolator
As described on docs you can use my PayPal account to make donations...startinng from 10€(if I remeber right) you also get your own keyfile (not really needed atm but who knows in future...). However thank you also for asking Last edited by Tuxedo on 18-Feb-2015 at 06:48 AM.

unfortunately for some weird reason LoView in AmigaOS4.x works about 25% slower than on MorphOS on my machine (Pegasos2 G4@1131)...Since I cant control in any way low level code the only way to speed up LoView was that AmigaOS will do faster some things that in the way Hollywood call them works atm not so fast as on MOS... That can be due really many reasons so maybe it wasnt possible to gets LoView runs faster soon...also I hope that will be "solved" in some way but dunno if its possible... However on my machine FastView wasnt so faster than LoView... _________________ Simone"Tuxedo"Monsignori, Perugia, ITALY. |

I tried yesterday to load the same pictures with your LoView and my FastView. For somes, yours was faster, for others, mine was faster.
Therefore, no comparaisons are possibles.
(But I'm very happy that some users use FastView ) _________________ http://apps.amistore.net/zTools |

I never did a serious bemchmark, so no real comparison possible as you stated, only my few and fast tests
The only "real" thing was that I dont liKe so much FastView way of work, but that was only iIMHO naturally and the beauty of tge life was to can choose _________________ Simone"Tuxedo"Monsignori, Perugia, ITALY. |

Thanx for the new beta. I'm very happy that LoView is back :P You got my bug report: only a few bubble help changes. The rest works very well. Great work! I hope you can implement the use and save button soon. And a prefs button in LoView of course :D The actual zoom factor in the status bar would be great.
See you... |
