| I noticed that NetBSD 3.0 has been released for the Classic. My A1200/060 is mostly collecting dust atm, atleast when it's not used for making/watching demos. Sad really....
So, how well does NetBSD perform on a 060/AGA machine, is it useable? I'd love to get some comments from guys that has tried NetBSD on their classic machines.
I've never tried NetBSD on any hardware, and I'm a bit curious, it's very linuxish, or?... _________________ AOS4 Betatester, Peg2, G4@1ghz, Radeon 9250 256mb, 1gb RAM.

it would be more unix'ish :)
I had it for a time on my A3K, only used shell terminals off function keys. Amiga is really the best.
Do it for the experience.

My mate uses NetBSD on his A4000 040/25 with Merlin 4MB gfx board and it works really great. On AGA machines it's usable too, for sure. _________________ I miss draggable screens in MorphOS... and do you? I know I'm in a minority unfortunately. |

I have a friend who has an 060 A1200 colocated in a server farm that runs NetBSD. Does web serving fine Pushes a lot of my data around without fault.

I had NetBSD 0.9 on my A1200/30 50MHz for years, it worked quite well. But I usually ran X11 on a screen with 4 bit colour depths only.
Older workstations like the 68k Suns had an OS that was very similar to BSD on 68k but I never tried any Sun binaries on it. I doesn't know the actual state of 68k NetBSD it was always the best Unix like OS on the Amiga but I don't know much about application supported by actual NetBSD.
